I don’t think we will be relegated without huge investment! There will be three worse teams than us next year. There will be investment as players are out of contract!

People get all up in their emotions far too easily and consistently.

We will buy this summer no doubt about that!!

How does this reflect a Caribbean culture?

You are ignorant - just saying! All black people are not Caribbean !

I have been slammed on the forum for my comments, However I will
continue.
The squad now is predominantly composed of players of an Afro-
Caribbean culture. Culture does not mean colour of skin.
This culture is more " laissez-faire " than Northern European
cultures and hence is not renowned for spirit, fight and
dedication as personified by players such as Derry, Macarthy,
Hill, Delaney et al.
The present squad with perhaps the exception of Zaha, Anderson,
Ward do not have these qualities.
Jimmy Mac and Hughes also have them but are not given ample
playing time.

Got to agree there. We tried but when there is nothing coming from the players to enthuse about it’s difficult. Villa fans were abysmal. The occasional yippee kayaaa or whatever and that was about it. That’s my last away game for a while. The cost is prohibitive and to be honest it’s mostly a waste of time

Oh gawd I’m going Amex and emirates. Goner be an expensive few days tbh.

Parish recruited the yanks, FdB, renewed contracts that should have ended on players who were injured, past it or just plain useless (and continues to do so), he has failed in recruitment and succession planning, 10 years in EPL and no progress in terms of team, lack the ability to recruit decent players at affordable prices (Unlike BH&A + Brentford), wasted 10 years of Epl income. Sure he did good in 2010 but that's the past and it's the future that matters. If we are relegated, sorry but it’s down to him!

Yep well said this mess sits firmly with Parish and Freedman.

I’m thinking a fluid front 3, reminiscent of Salah Mane and Firmino at their best weaving their magic through the Villa defence, or maybe not but we live in hope.

I went back to the beginning of the thread and this comment made me smile.
And now having read through the thread it's the same story every match day - the initial hope, the belief that we're a decent side (on paper at least) we have players with potential, we can grab a win this time, etc etc, all in denial of the reality that actually we're just a bit s*** and the rot runs throughout the club beginning from the boardroom on down. The one salve to this reality is that there are other teams worse than us...
We've chanced it, and in ten years haven't made much of an advance, which suggests our time will soon be up. Unless there is a genuine desire to move forward at the boardroom level then our days treading water will be over for this instalment. Perhaps it won't be such a bad idea, the academy players can make the breakthrough and all the overpaid deadwood can get the chop.

I agree. Desmond Haynes, Gordon Greenidge, Viv Richards, Brian Lara, Clive Lloyd, Courtney Walsh, Curtley Ambrose, Malcom Marshall, Joel Garner, Ian Bishop and Michael Holding all lacked spirit, fight and dedication

Never been to an away game with such a lack of passion and noise. PV and his dogs*** football is sucking the life out of this football club. The football served up today (and most weeks) was turgid.

Why is it all his fault. He put out an attacking team which according to the start of this thread was the one that everyone wanted yet all of our skilful players played awfully

Is it that Vieira is not getting the best from the players or that the players are not that good. A bit of both I would say.

However we saw last season that this team ( minus Gallagher, Kouyate and a fit MacArthur) is capable of so much better. I don’t know what the answer is and that is why I am in finance and not managing a football team.

One observation is the team seem to play with fear. Last season for large parts we played with no fear. The difference is there for all to see.

I agree with you to a certain extent. PV is always fishing in the same pond. Breakfast at Copers Cope must be interesting with almost half the squad speaking French. It must create cliques.

Okay the morning after the night before. In the cold light of day , i think the starting line up was all wrong . Wilf is not a striker and was very disgruntled yesterday and disinterested , Eze is a great player but has more impact when coming off the bench , Lakongo was also anonymous yesterday and is not anywhere near the fight we need in midfield, Anderson had a bad day at the office as did Awew and Olise . There was too many players that didnt turn up for a fight yesterday , its all very well bragging that we got a point from United Liverpool and Sandcastle but then to lose against Villa an Var is not acceptable . Villa got the points yesterday without scoring and against 10 men . Just bad luck and in my honest opinion a bad choice of starting line up . A striker that gets slagged off all week by his manager isnt going to prove him wrong from the bench .

I don’t think there was anything wrong selecting our two central midfielders. Problem they had was Olise and Eze either side of them and the decision to play Zaha up top. Bad selections again by PV when all was needed was Zaha coming in for Schlupp and playing the other 10 from last week. He cocked it up again. Not saying we would have won but we would have had a better balanced team in my opinion? When we went down to 10 with Olise and Eze also off we had more bite in the team than when we had 11 on the pitch.

If Parish and his 3 mates, hadnt bought the club, there wouldnt be a C Palace, if he didnt bring in the Yanks, we would of been relegated years ago.
No one is perfect, but laying the blame at him, seems a little churlish.
