They certainly won't dip into their pockets to pay him off. I don't understand his avoid the goal at all costs strategy because there's only one way to win games. We've still got a $hithole for a ground and now we have a team to match. Where is the money being spent?

The alternate to this is a proposition of every single other possible manager that could be/have been brought in and a suggestion that not one of them could improve us in any area including work rate, shots, shots on target but most importantly do better than have one win in over a dozen games and be out of both cups.

It's an astonishingly terrible run after which we are now dangerously close to the relegation zone with little if no sign whatsoever of that changing. I really fail to believe that there is no alternative to PV and am struggling to have any faith whatsoever in him steering us to safety now, which is our only objective.

If the worst does happen, we continue to not even muster shots let alone score, end up in the relegation zone and start playing the 'lesser' teams, bereft of confidence, and getting nothing against them, it will look nothing short of insane for us to have kept PV on in hindsight.

Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!!

SP got us promoted, kept us up and ultimately will take us down.If we haven't got the money to buy a reputable striker we're screwed. Remember Fuller, chamack, Sorloth, We've tried as usual to try and do it on the cheap. Murray and Gayle knew where the goal was and we got rid for peanuts. We've got Hughes in midfield who busts a gut when he plays And PV plays Schlupp. Starting to feel PV is similar to Gerrard and Lampard , great footballers,s***e managers.

We just lost to Manchester City. The current holders of the Premier League cup. By one goal. A penalty. They are the top scorers in the league. And joint second in goals conceded. That is not a bad result in the real world.

Sack a manager now?

It's a factor, but the problem?

No team in PL history has gone 3 games in a row without a shot on target. Do we have the worst chance-creating players in PL history?

PV had the summer with this group and we started the season with some shaky performances but got a few wins. He then has an uninterrupted 4 weeks with them over the World Cup period and since then we have been utterly incapable of scoring goals. The same group of players is in decline over a 12 month period - that's not recruitment, that's management.

Edited by Tim Gypsy Hill '64 (12 Mar 2023 1.04am)

I think the context Tim is we’ve set a record for not having an effort on target, bottom of the table for attacking statistics, months without winning, out of both cups, have the lowest work rate in the league and once again have showed little to suggest that is going to change.

Sack a manager now? Yes, this would be exactly the time most managers would expect to get sacked.and the facts back that up. I just can’t see the case to keep him on. Whether anyone likes it or not I think he’ll be gone soon. The only thing I can say at this juncture is the tough run we’ve had but even saying so myself it sounds like a very weak excuse.

De Boer, Pardew, were sacked for less. IF Parish is true to form and there is no improvement in the next couple of games (the stats are damning) then Vieira is a goner.

We are playing extremely negative football. We're setup to try to not lose rather than be positive and going out to try and win. In the beginning we did this and it was amazing to watch. We played strikers from the start. Unfortunately I think the damage is done and confidence is so low I can't see us staying up under the current management especially with so many decent clubs beneath us. It's a shame.

Agree to a point, but playing an attacking line up with the team low on confidence against a team like City, would have led to a very heavy defeat. We have had a unfortunate run of games, all against teams above us in the league, the last 9 games will define our season, let's hope they work it out by then. We need a lucky win to get confidence back, against Brighton would be a perfect start.

Apropos De Boer I can only re-iterate that no manager is removed of his duties after 4 league games on results alone.

In terms of Pardew we had been defeated in 8 of his previous 10 games, we had a porous defence and we were 17th after 17 games and had only attained 15 pts when he was shown the door.Besides the transfer window was approaching and there was over half the season remaining.

Willo , if we lose to Brighton do you think he will get sacked? I think he will , not sure who would come in maybe Freedman ? Maybe Lanzo has been right all along, he was 25/1 to get sacked last week now 4/1
