I did notice that but was too far away to make a definitive judgement .
It certainly looked like a handball just outside the area.
The ref wasn’t shocking, but there was a definite trend to giving City the benefit of the doubt on occasions as tends to happen with the bigger clubs.

Did you (anyone) see / understand what looked like an absolute certain City handball on the edge of their box about 5 minutes into the game, we had a kind of miss hit cross & the city defenders hand was outstretched above his head & the ball hit it, to me it was a certain free kick if not a penalty, (it isn't shown on the hi lights either so I cant go back & take another look) the ref seemed to either wave it away or play advantage because we had the ball / momentum -

Maybe he waved play on because he didnt think it was handball but I know we have been penalised several times for less obvious ball to hand decisions -

Did anyone else have any thoughts ? see it differently -

Some have alluded to the referee letting 'fouls' by City go but I thought he had a very good game and wasn't his fault he had to give a stone-wall penalty.

Who knows, but for that switch-off in defence we may have held out for a hard earned 0-0

Yes, seems so easy to blame the referee for our failings, the defence generally played well although both left and right backs need to improve their passing accuracy. We are slow playing out from the back, so counter attacking becomes more difficult as the opposition are given the chance to get players back behind the ball. The front line is toothless, we are overrun with dribblers, who constantly dribble themselves in to trouble instead of quick and accurate passing in to dangerous areas of the opposing box and last but by no means least we just do not have a hardworking striker that is anticipating and causing panic around the opposition defenders looking for the opportunity to pick up the loose ball. PV in his post match interview was complaining that we have no leader on the pitch that needs to be fixed but most of all we are in this position because both SP/DF have stuck their heads in the sand during transfer windows past knowing full well our weak link for a few seasons now has been an effective striker!

I was too far away too - block G in the main stand, the ref was obviously a lot closer -

It was definitely handball, but it was outside the box. He was going to blow but played the advantage because the ball fell to Olise. Unfortunately the referee hasn't watched us much recently, so wildly overestimated the 'advantage' to be gained from Palace having the ball in open play.

Saw it in the same way as you. Sit in LH so don’t know if it was in area. Presumably he played advantage but could easily have brought the game back or give us the free kick immediately, which was in Olise territory

It was outside box as others have observed. Ref gave us the advantage of having the ball.

Main thinking is that when we had the ball we were still trying to defend by resting and running down the clock. It was so painful to watch

Given how deep City were at that stage there was no advantage in playing on.
A dead ball situation was a greater advantage and he should have given that to us.
He was not great in my opinion - systematic fouling went unpunished and so on.

I thought that in real time!

Zero advantage to us keeping the ball. May be jsut maybe a free kick on the edge of hte box would have helped us avoid the shot on target record

Yes, I saw it, but I think the ref played advantage - and I think he explained that to a Palace player afterwards. However we'd have been better off with a free-kick on the edge of the box - perfect Olise territory.

The right place at the right time

I guess the ref thought we were on the attack & had more to gain from being allowed to play on rather than giving us the free kick where City could get everyone behind the ball - as someone else said, the ref obviously cant watch us play very often

Perhaps Leipzig's capitulation to City tonight puts our performance into some perspective
