I'm pretty sure a while back Wilf said he prefers to play on the left. He certainly seems to drift out there even when starts up top. Even last season PV would sometimes play Wilf up top against the bigger teams, before reverting back to a proper striker in the other games. I think he'll continue to do the same the rest of this season.

We all know wilf will hit a purple patch and we start winning those games by the odd goal.

What happens with no wilf next season tho! sooner or later will will go down. I would wager in the next 2-3 seasons.

Having played open, front-foot attacking football upon his arrival, Vieria has reverted to Hodgson-esque tactics, employing a deep, compact defensive block and looking to nick a goal on the break, from a set play, or following an isolated bit of individual play from a forward.

The reason (it seems to me anyway) is clear - we cannot possibly outscore opponents in an open game with the forwards we have. We were a different animal last year because Gallagher provided goals from midfield, but almost everyone in the league had better strikers than us back then, and they all still do now.

I find relegation unlikely. Even playing poorly we have averaged just over a point per game so far. Even if we get slightly less than a point a game from here on in we will be fine. Plus, we are soon to play the teams around and below us, many of whom will be under greater pressure than us to take the initiative, but none of whom have the individual ability of the opponents we have faced recently.

The same set of tactics, frustrating and dull as they are, will work better against the teams we will face in the coming weeks, and a series of dull draws will suffice.

I know we were in the Championship for a lot of the time when I was working overseas, if I happened to have the opportunity to return to the UK the first thing I would do would be to check who palace were playing & could I make my travel schedule fit around the game - as getting a ticket for the game on matchdays was relatively easy -

I was saying to my son last night, it may be bad but it will make it easier for me to get tickets to bring him.

Draws will not suffice. We're going to need three, maybe four wins.

It's exactly the same script as happened at Nice. They couldn't score either - and the players were going through the motions, with no plan. First season fine, second season poor and gone.

Positive points to being relegated ? Really ??
The last time we went down in 2005 it took 7 seasons & an administration.
The first administration was also as a Championship club.
Those like me with longer memories will remember that when the club went down in 1981 it took 8 seasons to get back.
Be careful what you wish for !

Relegation sucks, it always does, but it's not the end of the world. All part of the cycle and certainly a big part of being a Palace fan. It's just that some newer fans (and that's in no way a criticism) haven't experienced it yet! Hand on heart I've had more enjoyable experiences in the Championship/old first division than the Prem. And part of the fun is chasing the Holy Grail.

If we are in this league, we need to be smart and benefit from his league, not be held hostage by it.
I have always liked the idea of being under dogs int his league, grab bargain, blood a youngster and stay up, not not he cheap... but in a smart manner, let the chairman runt things his way, not wasting the millions we get each year...

We have an academy now, that's something... we need a spot on recruitment policy now.

We need to pretend each season we are on of the promoted teams - go out there and have fun, enjoy it and get to 40 points as quickly as we can.

Yes, the stokes, the burnleys. the Wigans, you get stagnant and go down if not careful, but with a proper business minded chairman, relegation should not be the end of the world.

This nonsense of needing the prem, absolute BS. Tell that to the 90 other league clubs. We can be a prem club and be sustainable... same in champ or any league.

Spot on, their are no positives in getting relegated. I would be absolutely devastated. We don’t have the money or size of club to necessarily bounce back. We would lose any players worth watching and it would be back to the days of going out of obligation with zero pleasure. I know there isn’t much pleasure at the moment but that will change. Keep the faith and let’s put this awful season behind us and go again next year. After all it was only last season where we were all loving it.

You dont think Palace are capable of getting 4 wins against that lot? Regardless of current form (which will not last forever) there is a reason most of them are below us.

I agree,we should be capable of getting at least four wins.
However, with no wins in fourteen following inevitable defeats in the next two matches against Brighton and the mighty Arsenal, difficult realistically to see where the next win will come from with Mr.Nice in charge.
We will see change,i believe, after the next two defeats.
