I would love wilf to win a trophy. He only has a few years left. If Arsenal come calling he should go!

Surely he is fed up with relegation and s***e football with us.

A harsh summary but I tend to agree.

I am inclined to believe wherever (if) he goes I won't be able to distinguish him from Palace and therefore will still 'support' Wilf almost as much as I do our club.

I'd therefore celebrate, within reason, him winning something. Wouldn't be at any cost to us I'm sure anyway.

Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!!

As you wrote this could you not just foresee Wilf's winning goal for Villa against us in a cup semi final.

The Mail, not the most reliable source, is reporting that Zaha has been offered a new deal at Palace worth £200,000 per week.
Extraordinary sums if true, but perhaps it reflects his value to the club and the huge potential cost of replacing him.
I don’t think he’s had a particularly good season, but he remains our only real dangerous attacker.

If we were to assume a 2 year contract, that's £20m. It's the equivalent of signing someone for £12m and paying them £80k/week.

Obviously we'd be better off signing someone that we think will have sell on value but if we, depressingly, don't think we can find that player, then £200k/week (which does include bonuses etc.) isn't quite as silly as it initially sounds (as hard as it is to write that).

Personally I'd rather offer Reiss Nelson £100k/week, a £5m signing on fee, the chance to stay in London, bank £5m, and 2 years from now have a 25 year old with sell on value. However, I accept we may not be the best proposition and that the club has possibly the worst succession planning in global football.

lol.

Probably a good business case to present that as fact however.

That's more than the majority of the team's salaries added together

Maybe Parish has put a huge bet on Vieira leaving (suddenly), to subsidise Wilf’s new salary. It would explain the market price change from about 10-1 to 4-6.

We'd be absolutely mental to offer this.

The squad desperately needs all round investment and with money probably not being in huge supply it'd be madness to tie up a huge sum on just one player, who I love but he's not going to be improving or increasing in value.

£9M tax free per annum to sign and play for Al-Ittihad in Saudi.

Current leaders of the Saudi Pro league. Serious contesters for the Kings Cup, the Arabian Super Cup, The FIFA club world championship and more

So not only will Wilf earn massive money, but he will win trophy after trophy. He will live in a beautiful climate and be the Hero of Jeddah overnight as he freely scores for The Tigers.
Regularly play in front of a 60,000 crowd.

What is there not to like? Just be tragic for us to see him go...

If he goes, he will be sorely missed.

Wilf, I dearly hope you stay, but if you go, Best of luck

I think this would seriously unbalance the pay structure of the club and wouldn't be good for either party. Wilf would jump at joining a top 6 club, and who'd blame him. He deserves the chance of some silverware. It remains to be seen if a top 6 club will make him an offer. I'd be surprised if one doesn't

Who could break his leg in pre season and leave us well and truly fooked in both footballing and financial terms
