The "conspiracy theories" that were condemned were not that it was a possible leak, but that it was a deliberate leak and the way that it was politicised by Trump. An accidental leak was always a likely, even probable source, but the kickback came when Trump started to use this as an excuse to turn the focus away from him. We needed China to co-operate and allow the WHO access to determine the cause, take steps to limit the damageand and advise on improvements to avoid any future reoccuence. They are naturally reticent and secretive anyway but when Trump started his tirade of playing the blame game and suggesting compensation they slammed the door shut. It was not the way to handle a crisis. That was why the kickback happened. To try to keep China onside. That's the way. China starts a pandemic which closes down the world and kills many thousands and Trump is the villain of the piece.

I have also lost count the amount of times sleepy Joe has caught covid even after he gave misinformation by telling everyone that the vaccine stops transmission and he is on his 4th or 5th booster now or someting.

It seems the pandemic started in China, but it is possible it arrived from elsewhere. We simply don't know. That's different from suggesting that "China starts a pandemic". That suggests an accident or even a deliberate act. Again we don't know. So suggesting China is the villain, without proof, is neither accurate nor helpful. Trump on the other hand was a villain. Not for causing a pandemic but for reacting to it politically. He attempted to shift the focus away from his dithering response and tried to find a target to blame.

Which I think is optimistic given the numerous indictments he seems likely to face. Biden is at 2-1. Which suggests people donn't see his administration as a total failure. Not those who vote anyway. Perhaps those on a football website with a right wing outlook do!

I'm not by any means suggesting it was deliberate but to deny a laboratory specialising in virus research at the epicentre of the pandemic wasn't responsible is stretching credulity beyond reason.

If it was the smoking gun that fired the bullet we don't know who was holding it, who it was aimed at and why. Nor, actually, do we know who made the bullet. Making assumptions in the world of geopolitics is quite possibly what someone wants you to think. Now I know I am also dabbling in conspiracy theory but in truth that's all anyone has. The meaning behind Trump's motivation was never really in doubt. He wouldn't admit it, he never does, so we cannot know for sure, but there was no other logical explanation. If he was able to prove it, he would have done.
