That's a demand for a confirmatory referendum, not direct action!

Something I disagreed with. I wanted Parliament itself to act, toss out Johnson, install an interim pm, and do what they truly believed was in our best interests. In the end Corbyn stopped that from happening. If he had stood aside I doubt we would now be in the mess that Brexit has caused.

Stood aside for Starmer. He's made all the difference.

He didn't. Starmer was chosen after Corbyn resigned following Labour's disastrous 2019 election campaign. I have nothing but disdain for Corbyn. Starmer doesn't excite, me but at least he seems to have a modicum of integrity.

The standing down by Corbyn ought to have happened in the Autumn of 2019, but he thought he could win, is anti-EU himself, and refused. Personal ambition replaced duty. A new leader could have changed Labour's confused position on Brexit, backed a confirmatory referendum, joined with the SNP, Lib Dems and pro-EU Tories to defeat Johnson in a vote of no-confidence. Then we would have had an interim PM, and a short-term national government and the referendum. Once done we would have had a GE.

Corbyn is as much to blame for Brexit as Johnson.

So who was Corbyn supposed to have stepped aside for?

He didn't step aside for anyone. He stood down, so the party could choose a new leader. Probably jumping before he was pushed.

Threads get diverted. It happens.

Now grooming gangs AND Laxley-Lennon.

This thread is supposed to be about his role in the whole sorry affair. Something that the case in Barrow has shone some light on.

You might as well have gone straight to a military coup.

I was at an FA cup game at Barrow once. They all had miners' helmets with lights. A little intimidating with several thousand of them. At least the thread isn't getting diverted.
