It wasn't panicking though was it. It was the feeling from a promising, attractive style of play last season to gradual decline and piss poor, lackluster, scared performances leading nowhere. It was coming and this moment is as good as any.

The short odds on Roy don’t necessarily reflect the likelihood of him being appointed. Just means it’s Roy - who everyone knows and understands why he could get it - or someone else from a long list of guesswork, and who individually will be longer odds. This could be bollux of course.

I can't be the only one who's distinctly unimpressed by the whole event and now just desperately hoping we can limp through the rest of the season, somehow stay in the PL and see something or a multitude of things happening in the summer? And that's not even in terms of pushing on, something to get excited about etc. etc. Just some stability would be nice.

As for a replacement, I really can't even identify a dog in the race for myself.

Talk about a write-off.

Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!!

Next manager odds are normally spot on , bookies don’t take more than a bullseye on any bet with “next manager” they have sources and the fact Roy has been slashed to 5/4 within in hour speaks volumes

“This is a crisis, a large crisis.... in fact if you have a moment, it’s a 12 storey crisis, magnificent entrance hall, carpeting throughout, 24 hour portage , and an enormous sign on the roof saying “This , is a large crisis” - Edmund Blackadder

Really hope there is a plan and it’s not the usual s*** show. Expect someone truly underwhelming. A few deluded suggestions on here, who would possibly want the job. We have Zaha leaving in the summer no goal scorer, no goals from midfield…. It’s bleak.

The team have played every bit as poorly as you say, but there is still an element of panic in the decision, simply because the club cannot be certain that a better manager is available and willing. It's not guaranteed that we are upgrading, we just hope we will.

The dice have been rolled.

Liverpool fans are texting me that Rafa would be good. I'm not convinced. Anyone that keeps us up will be a hero like Hart.
Personally, do not want Roy but there you go. He did well for us but that was then.
Of the available, Hassenhutl or whatever his name is seems most fitting. Carrick or Kompany for the long term - hopefully not in the championship.

we will get a short term manager till the end of the season. like big sam or roy. Then go back to a "long term project"

Scott Parker in the summer if we go down I reckon.

One suspects that Patrick was not presenting anything convincing to the board. You always wonder what players were putting the boot in.
It's a bit rich for Patrick to be sacked today - St. Patrick's day.

The sacking seems desperate, the board are desperate and a joke, so Roy would be perfect.
