Please, forget Roy. He's 75 and has earned his retirement. Failed at Watford when they were desperate, and anyway he retired from managerial football in May 2022. You people really are clutching at straws; are things that desperate that they cannot be put right with a steady hand and players taking responsibility?
Remarkable that after 10 seasons it has come to this, but it defines Parish's reign as chairman. Entropy.

I can't believe that over 500 posts into this thread, and no-one has yet mentioned that Mourinho always wanted to manage Palace before he finished.

I know your joking - he would on a par with Roy as a bad decision.
There is no point looking for a fancy manager with all their European tactical training manuals. We don't have the players!
Our best player is leaving at the end of the season.
Vincent Kompany is the only person I can think of, but given what he said about the PV situation..... no chance

What an absolute fantastic interview by paddy McCarthy on Palace TV yesterday ,

Absolutely brilliant check it out

When I watched it yesterday I got a bit of excitement back. I'm really looking forward to seeing what he can do. I just hope he gets longer than 1 game against the top team, unless we get beat 10-0 then he can f*** off

In broad terms I agree with you analysis and view that it’s ridiculous that the club find itself in this position.
That being said, we are where we are I’m looking at the next games as a mini season.
It’s going to a nervy time with experience a very useful commodity.
Is it fair to entrust this to a novice manager who’s only real experience is with young players at a more junior level, a world away from the scrutiny of the so called ‘best league in the world.’
It has to be a gamble.
It may also be a gamble bringing back Roy and Ray, but in my judgement it would be less of a gamble than Paddy.
In the summer, when we are clear which division we are in, we can plan for a new manager with a budget to suit either scenario.

Realistically we’re not going to appoint anything other than a short term manager until the end of the season.

Paddy has no managerial experience, regardless of how well thought of he is at the club , and he would represent a gamble.

To bring in a manager unfamiliar with the setup and the players for the remaining games also represents a gamble as by the time he familiarises himself the season could nearly be over.

Hodgson and Lexington are very experienced and familiar with most of the players and the set up.
I may not like how Roy sets up teams, but I cannot dispute he knows the game and he, possibly in combination with Ray and Paddy, possibly represents the least bad option for the remainder of the season.

The debate as to how and we’ve ended up in this situation can wait until the end of the season.
For now the sole focus has to be on the remaining games.

Cannot comprehend that Parish and the Board would not have an appropriate replacement lined up,before this sacking, and ready to appoint within the next few days and talks are probably going ahead right now.
