Huge day on Saturday, no not the return of Roy, I’m taking my 2 football mad boys to their first Palace game at selhurst. I’ve ashamedly not been to selhurst for 15 years and I’m really looking forward to it. Certainly harder to buy tickets these days.
Managed to find 3 seats together in the lower holmesdale. Hopefully they’ll be enough atmosphere and excitement to get the kids wanting to make it a regular thing!
Anyone know if the view from row 20 will be reasonable enough for kids to see?!

I remember my old man's insistence on sitting in the Lower Holmesdale with myself and my brother, even when there were only about 30 other people in the crowd! Was a long long time ago now however.

If you're directly behind the goal might slightly impede view however I will say that whilst Palace were kicking towards the Croydon Advertiser I used to watch on the big screen but absolutely loved when they were attacking the goal behind which we sat!

Welcome back, hope the kids enjoy it, have a great time Buster and hopefully you bring some luck!!

Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!!

Brendan Rodgers knows we like to kick towards the Holmesdale in the second half, if his lot win the toss they will choose ends so we end up kicking towards to Whitehorse Road end second half.

One of my best ever days was taking my lad to his first game . He was only 3 years old and spent the second half of the match in the nursery they used to have in the Old Stand playing with the girls that ran it .
Regardless I knew that day I had done my duty , it was like he had been baptised an Eagle . He is 40 now and still attends regually .

The views are fine from anywhere in the Holmesdale Buster , enjoy the match but more important enjoy your kids enjoying the match .

COYP!

And we still need a striker

I thought that I'd be a modern father and let mine select their own teams to support but when they chose Manchester City, Brighton and Spurs I wished that I had imposed my own will on them

Buster

I sincerely hope that your children have a wonderful, memorable day at Selhurst Park and have a yearning to return.

Hopefully their view of the match will not be obscured by grown-up oafs standing in the seats in front.

Depends on their age/height.

I took my 3 year old earlier in the season for his first game, he sat on my lap for most of it, and stood for the rest.

Wouldnt have been able to see if he was sat on his own seat

Row 20 is high enough not to be blocked by goal (see my view from row 16 attached) but depends which block you’re in as HF will stand throughout as do most of block E, so sideways view from D or F might be impeded. Enjoy the game.

Standing and waving flags obscuring the view of the supporters behind them who have paid hard-earned money to support the team and are entitled to see events on the field of play.

Just tell them to get ready to catch the ball when Palace are attacking that end

Thanks for the kind reply’s!

It’s like Christmas Eve in this house, boys are buzzing for tomorrow. Hope they get to see a decent game and some goals. It’d be great to have an excuse for a return trip!

Irrespective of the outcome of the match I am sure they will enjoy it and be enamoured of the atmosphere and the whole experience. My first game was a 0-0 draw against Colchester in the old Third Division on a murky damp February afternoon in 1964, with a crowd of about 16,000 - but that didn't stop me coming back for more.

PS buy a programme for them as a souvenir of their first Palace game.
