It's certainly just a theory. Whether there was a conspiracy rather less so. When the situation became more widely known isn't the same as when government realised that there was a problem that demanded a policy. Governments come and go, but the civil servants who advise them remain in place, and this is what, I suspect, was in play here. I am just looking at the chain of events and trying to deduce the most logical explanation. You don't have a series of police forces adopting broadly similar strategies unless there is some overall co-ordination. That has to be determined centrally.

The civil service implement policies - they don't decide them.

Theoretically, yes, but in practice, no. No Minister has nearly as much knowledge as the specialist permanent staff members in their Department. The Minister may be the legal enabler, but the architecture is designed by their staff. As I know from bitter personal experience it's also the civil service who interpret how policy is to be administered, and after they do, that Ministers refuse to get involved to overrule them.

Too much Yes, Minister.

I saw this too, and wondered what the response here would be. Having read a couple they are pretty predictable.

What I think it suggests is that obtaining admissible evidence against people is easier if the community they live in is on your side and willing to provide it.

And isn’t that great that white adults feel revulsion for these crimes and arnt afraid to push for the truth and conviction of these scum. Where are the pakistani adults reporting the grooming gangs, do they want paying, more benefits, a bigger house or do they really think it’s not a big deal but will happily kill there own family over an arranged marriage or the like. f***ing shameful people !

Are you talking about that bloke who pushed his wife off the cliff in Edinburgh ? Whenever I read about a husband killing his own wife, I always fear a certain pattern.....

Maybe once that was sometimes the case but these days and under the current last few governments it's actually ministers driven by SPADS (Special Paid Advisors) who are political appointees and often aid directly by the government of the day who have sway.

I have the scars to prove it.

Let's take a very recent example the Truss/Kwarteng financial statement This was driven by political dogma and many advised what effects that would have almost immediately.

I have emails in my archive that could make Sir Humphrey appear to possess the clearest, most logical mind in history.

Dismissing a whole group, and their culture, in that way won't do anything to help solve this. I don't believe anyone is born with prejudice. They acquire it from their family, culture and experiences. These include good influences amongst some bad. We need to do our best to build bridges with the good, whilst trying to re-educate the bad. It's not easy, or quick, but I can see progress, even if others cannot. What mustn't happen is to burn the bridges and leave the good with nowhere to go but into the arms of the bad.

It's easy to be critical. What's difficult is to come up with solutions that actually work.

No doubt. My wife has been a Civil Serpent for 40 years and her logic is often an extremely nebulous concept.

You only have to ask one question to the people who knew and did nothing. Something like; “ do you think it’s fine for your husband brother cousin etc to rape and assault underage girls?” Not difficult to guess the one word answer! Re education ha ha. They sure know how to get free stuff so I doubt it’s education they need, it’s morality.
I’m pleased the white grooming gang got sorted out and have their names and faces everywhere ready to be smashed up even after they come out. Let’s hope that the Asian grooming gangs get the same advertising and sentences but I have my doubts!

Time and the drip, drip effect of exposure to British culture and values, especially of the children in our schools, will gradually pay dividends. "Smashing" anyone up isn't going to solve anything except your own anger.
