Maybe there will end up being some sort of compromise where, for example, its treated like a player going off for treatment, the game continues whilst the player breaks his fast & afterwards he is allowed to re-join the game - Then its up to the club to decide how important that specific player & his individual beliefs are to the situation that they are in - for example there was a player recently who was excluded from a game because he was fasting & the coach said it was because the player was unable to follow pre game protocol (presumably, this meant taking on enough proteins & to be sufficiently hydrated to participate fully in the game)

Maybe there will end up being some sort of compromise where, for example, its treated like a player going off for treatment, the game continues whilst the player breaks his fast & afterwards he is allowed to re-join the game -

Then its up to the club to decide how important that specific player & his individual beliefs are to the situation that they are in - for example there was a player recently who was excluded from a game because he was fasting & the coach said it was because the player was unable to follow pre game protocol (presumably, this meant taking on enough proteins & to be sufficiently hydrated to participate fully in the game)

If the teams don't agree or the rules don't allow it, then its a discussion for the player & the club to decide what's the best outcome - these days pretty much every smartphone can tell you exactly what time sundown is going to be on any given day, so in line with whatever time KO occurs they can make a decision for the player to either be excluded from the game, to not start but be available off the bench (after he has broken his fast) or to start & then be substituted at some pre agreed time, its not that difficult -

There is definitely an argument that it could be considered the thin end of the wedge, i.e if you allow this where does it end & I can totally understand that viewpoint - in that respect as I have said below if the rules don't allow it then its up to the club & player to consider the best course of action. Its not necessary. If the fasting player isn�t fit enough use the squad, if supplements are needed for an ultra fit athlete use them before kick off, at half time, go to the sidelines and grab a gel like cyclists, or go off the pitch while the game is on.

Football here does not have breaks in the game here for religion, or religions.

If I remember correctly, if no-one had commented on it, most people wouldn't have noticed as it actually took less time than Manu player spend arguing with the ref after any tackle on one of their players...

As someone else was saying earlier, currently both sides have to agree to a break & inform the referee beforehand - if both sides have Muslim players fasting then its likely not going to be an issue - If the PL decides that its not something that they want to allow then there are plenty of ways for a club / player to work around it with the game continuing. As someone else was saying earlier, currently both sides have to agree to a break & inform the referee beforehand - if both sides have Muslim players fasting then its likely not going to be an issue -
If the PL decides that its not something that they want to allow then there are plenty of ways for a club / player to work around it with the game continuing.

ah yes, well we must give respect to all religions. can we start with the native Jews of North Africa. From Morocco to Egypt they seem to be an endangered species....hunted and killed in some cases. And how about the minority Christian Copts of Egypt....also suffering terrible persecution from the majority. Respect is a two-way street, after all ? Eze Peasy at Anfield....
