RB is a position Palace have not strengthened since Wan Bissaka left.

Which RB would you like if Palace have the funds this summer?

I would be happy with Aarons, Wan Bissaka or Spence all would improve the RB options at the moment and would get in the starting XI.

Max Aarons would cost under £20m (less than 1 year left his contract)

Aaron Wan Bissaka (could be harder considering he has been doing well in the past month but if Qataris take over UTD they will heavily invest and that means AWB place could be at risk. He is probably the best one on one defender great last second tackles.

Djed Spence (likely he will be sold. They have an obligation to buy Porro for £40m this summer he will be no 1 choice plus they still got Emerson Royal.)

Wilfried Singo (RB who plays for Torino decent player like Aarons 1 year contract left so probably £20m or less)

Who can you see arriving this summer?

Has anyone ever watched Max Aarons play and thought he looks worth the hype?

I don't think we have the strength in depth across enough positions to justify spending anywhere near £20m on a right back and there will be options at £10m who would do a perfectly good job for a club like us. We might just have to do a bit more searching to find them.

26th January 2010 - Enter Administration
2nd May 2010 - D-Day 1 - Survival at Hillsborough
1st June 2010 - D-Day 2 - Survival at Lloyds
7th June 2010 - CPFC2010 exchange contracts.

I have watched Max Aarons a few times and to my eyes he has not justified the hype.An attacking right-back and very fleet of foot but I have not been overly impressed with his all-round game.

I will add that over the years I have been in the company of those from the 'World' of football and there have been situations where there has been a real split in the opinions in relation to certain players with half positive and half not so positive !

I have a recollection of engaging in conversation with a scout who never rated Michael Dawson as highly as others when he was at Nottm Forest but our opinions differed.Dawson went on to play numerous seasons in the PL !

There was a lot of hype around Aarons a couple of seasons ago. He hasn't really developed as expected but would probably be an upgrade on what we have, plus he's still quite young I believe. Aarons can play left back at a push too, so would probably cover a lot of bases for us. I would think maybe 15mil at the most but am just guessing really.
Wan Bissaka seems hyped up at the moment. He seems to be touted as being sold but then play well. Really, Man U should keep him but you never know.
I haven't seen Spence play at all but heard he's doing ok on loan - I wonder if they have an option to buy? I vaguely remember something about that. I would also wonder how much Levy would want for him. I can imagine almost 30mil for either him or AWB - which seems a lot for us.

He's had 2 spells in the prem and no one has taken him off a selling club, he's not worth the hype.

Have to agree that I would be very surprised if the club were to spend £20m+ on a full back even if he could cover both FB positions. Consequently, the names mentioned in this thread are unlikely targets for us.

Apropos Spence, Tottenham signed him for £12.5 Mill which could rise to £20 Mill.
Warnock has said that Spence's attitude problems weren't doing him any favours and he let him move to Nottm Forest on loan from Middlesbrough to sort himself out.

AWB seems out of our price range so best to move on.

Aarons just looks like a younger Clyne - very small, very one footed, fast and direct, but can be bullied a bit. A move hasn't happened for him, and i'm not sure he's developed from being a promising youngster.

Spence looks great in a 3-5-2, which we rarely play. Again better going forward than defending. Spurs might accept a loan.

I know not the youngest but the other (ex) Spurs RB Matt Doherty will be available for free this summer. Can play both RB and RWB. He's 2 years younger than Ward and i would say a better player.

According to what I have read, different sources have Aarons at 5ft 10ins which is not that short.

I will throw another name in there Matty Cash.

There has been talk of Villa wanting Kyle Walker, and Ashley Young has been playing right back recently (though Cash had picked an injury on international duty).

Matty Cash started out as a midfielder, he played in central midfield and on both flanks. He was converted into a right-back at Nottm Forest I believe when Mark Warburton was manager.
He blocked more crosses than any other player in the Championship whilst playing for Nottm Forest season 2019-20.
Certainly an attacking right-back with a long throw.

Wiki does indeed have him at 5 ft 10 (if that's your source?) but then it has Clyne at 5 ft 9.

Neither looks very tall - i'd say 5ft 7 to 8 ish for both.

Mitchell is supposedly 5 ft 9 - i would say he was taller than Clyne.

Regardless of size i'm happy to offer the opinion that Aarons is not dominant in the air, which is a concern as we are not the tallest of teams
