What do you expect from an ex- Brighton player?

Especially as he played for them when the rivalry was real and every game really was a war off and on the pitch, he obviously hasn’t forgotten

My final say. Since we drew (albeit 0-0, I think he predicted 1-1), like all idiots he will reverse engineer the facts to support his prediction doubling down on the "fact" that it was unlikely we would win four in a row. A bit like people saying evolution is impossible because it's so unlikely.

Well something had to happen.

I take the point about Sutton, but his comment is not unlike many that you get on this forum from Palace fans. 'The law of averages suggests...' 'This run can't continue; something's got to give/improve...'. Why, even in the Everton predictions thread, our resident know-it-all Hrolf used our past "overall record" against Everton to inform his prediction. He then got the hump when I pointed out that our overall record wasn't actually so bad, and claimed that he only meant our more recent overall record.

Anyway, the point I'm making is that whereas we rightly have a dislike of Sutton, his lack of logic in this instance isn't so unusual.

As for Crooks, I see he included Marc Guéhi and Jordan Pickford in his team of the week, which interestingly (?) contained 11 players from different clubs.

Palace since 19 August 1972. Palace 1 (Tony Taylor) Liverpool 1 (Emlyn Hughes)

It's hard for anyone else to look that much of an idiot so long as Crooks is employed to give an opinion. Sutton has actually done pretty well with his predictions in an unpredictable season for the PL. I don't like him, but I think he's a long way from being as bad as Lawrenson. I also think he at least tries to say something other than a long list of clichés.

Crooks has come off his meds again picking Eze in his TOTW seemingly just so he can have a weird rant?!! I presume he didn't watch the game. I backed Vieira, but I accept Roy has done a great job. I can't help but feel he is digging for reasons to complain about us.

"Palace's 4-3 win over West Ham was a game full of goals and littered with errors including a penalty that wouldn't have been given a few seasons ago. What I don't understand is why officials are awarding soft penalties at all. It's not that long ago you had to be assaulted in the opposition's penalty area to get a spot-kick but not any more. Almost any contact in the box these days and everyone is crying penalty. Eberechi Eze went down has though he'd been hit by a truck but that is not the point - the referee fell for Eze's fall. Meanwhile Wilfried Zaha is complaining about been brought off when his performance against a dismal West Ham defence was average at best, and Jordan Ayew takes his shirt off during his goal celebration knowing the action would get him a caution. Why do players do that and what is the point of it? What is going on at Crystal Palace? Since their impressive victories away at Leeds and Southampton we are seeing signs of drama all over the place. Fortunately the creativeness of Eze and the quality of Michael Olise saved the day for the Eagles against the Hammers but there is a sudden spate of amateur dramatics at the Palace and it's a cause for concern."

He is a joke. The above is an insult to the players he mentioned and the club. Maybe Wilf was upset at being injured again, I don’t know nor does he. Salah often takes his shirt off, not seen Crooks mention that. Kane goes to ground more easily than most, has Crooks criticised him? He appears to be throwing mud at the club ( probably as we had the audacity to sack our black manager), unfortunately some of it will stick.

Crooks is one of those for me who labours under delusions of grandeur and has a chip on his shoulder for 'only' being a footballer however thinks he is some sort of contextual intellectual. A real 'dwarf amongst midgets', apologies if that offends anybody, reminiscent of the failure that is Frank Lampard.

I have read countless articles and opinions of his, on games I have watched (not just Palace) where it is quite clear he has not, yet he airs his uninformed opinions as though they are of some sort of lofty value. He comes across as quite simply thick, aloof and malcontented but also extremely invested in himself.

Unfortunately, whenever I have seen him in any 'live' context, he is usually allowed to get away with his act given the company he is in. I, for one, would love to be present and challenge him on much of his nonsense. One particular bug of mine is where he picks his BBC 'team of the week' and occasionally puts a Palace player in who may have got a goal but otherwise had a terrible game and omits others who played blindingly. He'll then provide some commentary on the match and player which makes it quite plain he didn't watch the game.

Mug!!! (that's me shouting it quietly from a crowd where I can avoid any identification and therefore confrontation )

Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!!

Even by Crook's biased standards, this is absurd. If anything, we have been too clean, too fair, not inclined to play dirty and we have paid for this. I agree with the stupid Ayew moment, but clearly his emotions got the better of him. The last sentence finally acknowledges the contribution of Eze (and Olise) but why is Eberechi place in Olise's position?

Crooks is thrashing around wildly trying to criticise and undermine Palace after his previous assertions that Vieira would have gained exactly the same results as Roy simply because the opposition was worse are becoming more and more ridiculous.

He had suggested that the same team were playing in the same way when it has become increasingly apparent even to those who highly value Vieira that this is not true.

In some basic ways this week's comments are an improvement on a couple of weeks ago which stated Vieira would have definitely won both games Hodgson was victorious in when Roy had actually stacked up three in a row. Hard to keep count Garth?

Very ironic that he picked Eze for his team of the week when he is a player that Vieira had lost faith with and stopped picking.

I also suspect he picked him just so he could use this platform to have this absurd rant. I suppose it should come as little surprise as this pundit has spent the best part of a decade trying to 'sell' Zaha to other clubs, notably his beloved Spurs.

For many reasons it would be lovely to have a convincing victory at White Hart Lane this Saturday - but confounding Mr Crooks negative Palace commentary would be a delightful bonus.

Crooks has had a problem with us ever since Vieira was let go. As others have noted, one of his comments was that he was unconvinced that the results would of been different if Vieira had stayed and that in actual fact, Hodgson's arrival had made no difference at all. Despite the fact that it's disrespectful to Hodgson and Ray for the results that we've got since they've come in and has a complete disregard for the way we were playing before (low energy, no goals for how long) it does seem to have an ulterior motive and accusatory tone which I find very distasteful, especially given the diversity that we have in the current Palace squad and historically.

Feels like he's desperately digging around in the dirt to try and justify his weird vitriol for Palace since Vieira left. Alright, I would of preferred Ayew not to get booked for taking off his shirt, but I doubt I'll see Crooks criticising Richarlison for doing the same on Monday and to have a go at Eze for the penalty, the ref and VAR gave it and we've seen lighter ones then that given against us. Wilf has always moaned when he's taken off and I assumed it was due to coming back from injury along with minutes before being taken off, he was moaning at Ayew and Doucouré so perhaps Roy thought he was throwing his toys out of pram.

There's more drama at the frothing of the mouth of Crooks writing that article and trying to prove his Vieira v Hodgson argument, than anything happening at the Palace.

What a tw@t.
