Did you ever go to Gay Meadow? There was a guy with a coracle (wicker boat) to collect the balls that went in the river. Was about the only interesting thing about the place. Never benn to the New Meadow. Not as catchy a name anyhow.

I did go to Gay Meadow back in the 80’s needless to say we lost both times because they were our bogey team back then. I remember that dude in the boat, if I remember right you could actually see him from the ground waiting patiently to spring into action

Apparently when Palace visited Gay Meadow in the 80s, they drafted in a couple of extra coracle guys because they expected an increased demand for their services.

I haven't read PE for about 10 years so it may have changed.

My favourite line of theirs they have probably stopped using. When they wanted to insult a female celeb / politician

e.g. Gorgeous pouting beauty Diane Abbot gave a radio interview where she couldn't add up.

I wonder how many lawyers have had this conversation with their client.

Client "I want to sue private Eye they libelled me."

Lawyer "What did they say"

Client (in tears) "They called me a Gorgeous pouting beauty"

I've just checked my facts, and it was old age creeping up on me and causing confusion. Inspector Corner of the Yard was (of course d'oh!!) played by Palace fan Ronnie Corbett in 'The Phantom Raspberry Blower of Old London Town'.

Other Private Eye euphemisms:

Tired and Emotional (pissed)
Ugandan Discussions, Discussions of a Ugandan nature, etc (sexual intercourse)

Well, we did have Andy Gray back then...

I can believe that, one of the times I went there Trevor Aylott was up front, there was probably an Armada of little boats out there

Best midfielder of my time, but I think he did actually kill a few people standing on the holmesdale with some of his free kicks

Aye, you could walk across the River Severn at Gay Meadow without getting your feet wet.

Seen on the BBS that someone has heard of a third boat, but the poster does not have a link or details... no idea as to where people are hearing about these boats and where to buy tickets.

Still really want to buy 2 if there are any going spare. It won't feel like Fulham away without going on the boat party before!

Due to ill health there are two spaces left on the boat. Get in quick if you want them.

Contact Grant on facebook.

Posted on a number of the groups.
