Theoretically he should have more than a fine and three points - the allowance is 10% + 2mph - he was doing 25 in a 20 limit.
But hey - why not break the rules for the church!

A nice joke but completely wrong. If there is such an allowance, it's the tolerance for a prosecution to proceed ie in your example 24mph = no points, no fine, 25mph = points and a fine.

I expect he was in a rush to Dover to offer some refugees his Palace as their new home, that or the COE is going to pay for their accommodation out of the billions they have squirrelled away.

as Welby was disembarking on his car journey, did well-wishers shout 'god's speed'.

how does God have a speed when He is omniprescent. Travelling quickly from Central London to Croydon.....only to discover that He is already there. And also still at Victoria Station ?

and how do you measure Gods-speed across different time-zones. Surely its the same whether He is heading Easterly or Westerly ?

Saul was said to have been struck by a brilliant light, therefore we can assume that there was no street lighting. In the absence of any speed signs, the default is the National Speed Limit - 60mph for a car.

I noticed Welby's poor lane discipline in Westminster Abbey.

Totally disagree. We need stronger Christian institutions, a confident Church willing to defend itself and stand up to the literal evil we live amongst.

Otherwise what does our civilisation become?

People with a religion will always over-come those without. Might take a while, there might be set backs but ultimately they win. Because a true faith ALWAYS makes you the stronger than anybody with no belief.

So in the West, if we lose our Christian identity we will eventually become ruled over by those of other faiths. Just a simple fact of history.

You want the West to survive, go to Mass. It all starts there.

This might be true, but only a fool has faith in something that is clearly imaginary.

I have no problem with people believing in nonsense until they try and tell me what to think and do. We have laws to maintain society, but people who are good don't need them to do the right thing. Bad people will always find ways to break them.

There is still plenty of room for morality in today's world, but religion should have been banished decades ago. Sadly, there is always a fresh batch of the gullible to indoctrinate.

Some claim that our morality is based on religious teaching, but I would suggest that it is the other way round. Man invented God and the Devil, and mankind has to uphold its own standards. There is no god to judge anyone or save us from our own stupidity.

Our Church is weak, and I'm grateful for that. I can live a life free from fear or damnation and enforced dogma. Anyone who ever tries to take that away from the British should be instantly scrubbed out.

.

And so what?

People with a faith in a higher power have far better life outcomes than those without. On almost every metric conceivable, believers live happier lives than those with nothing other than a belief that you are merely a complex virus.

We live in a West filled with hospitals, universities, schools, all set up by people with faith in something, according to you, imaginary. The placebo effect is real.

Rationality is going to kill Western Civilisation stone dead. It is an evolutionary dead-end. Embrace the irrationality of believing in something bigger than yourself.

Sure, us Crackers might be dinosaurs with a dirty big rainbow coloured meteor heading towards us but we can still make a choice of being the kind of dinosaur that quivers at the back of a cave, festering in its own excrement and apologising for existing. Or the kind who stands in the sun, screaming defiance and getting ready to head-but that meteor full on with a belief that something better lays ahead, no matter what.

And nothing like a bit of Friday night hyperbole!

Personal god religions are obviously not true.

However, the self absorbed, nihilistic narcissism of atomised individualism has been a poor and destructive replacement.
