Given Everton are at home to Bournemouth unfortunately it looks like they will stay up. The only consolation will be Leicester disappearing, which will wipe the grin off jug ears for a few seconds at least.

However I think Leicester will take one spot and most probably Leeds the other.. Would love it to be Everton though.. Always found their supporters quite a vile bunch in my own personal experience.

Everton have been circling the drain for the last couple years, if they don't go down this year unless they make some drastic changes they probably will get relegated next season. Originally posted by kennybrowns leftfoot

Leeds were just not very good again. They seem to have invested their money poorly while also being a bit unlucky with injuries. I think they'll struggle to beat Spurs or defend against kane. Everton could limp over the line by virtue of how bad the other teams have been, but I'd love it if Leicester could pull off a shock. I think Leicester will know they have to pull off the unimaginable and win away at Newcastle but to be honest it's really hard to see that happening. All the talk of this being a season where 40 points might be needed to stay up and it turns out 33 might even be enough. Some teams have been really bad this season.

This year the promoted teams have been exceptional, Fulham in particular, hence 3 established PL sides will be relegated. Is it a one-off it will be Burnley, SheffU and one other next season, I don't think the next crop will be as good, but we will see. Is here a shock result in the next few days possibly Leicester. Its so easy to get a bad couple of results and get dragged in, for us the right decision was made so credit to SP and Roy.

My shout on 1 Jan re. 36 points being enough looks like it was a slight over estimation!!! Not bad for 5 months before the end of the season though. The most any of the teams that will go down can get is 36 points. And that's if Leicester beat Newcastle away and West ham at home. Its more likely to be 34 so 35 was needed to stay up. Or 34 and GD if you want to be a pedant. Unless Leicester pull off a miracle tonight it will be them and leeds that join saints. Newcastle need the win to stay ahead of man u and liverpool in the race for the CL spots.

I'll put in my two-pennyworth on this topic that we're all enjoying so much, with ever more unlikely scenarios being hypothesised (no, I'm not Willo in disguise). If Leeds win their last game by three goals and Everton draw their last game, both will have 34 points and a goal difference of -24. In that case are positions in the table determined by number of goals scored, in which case Leeds would go above Everton? I imagine that the aforementioned Willo knows the answer. Probably lots of you do, but I don't.

Probably lots of you do, but I don't. For me, it's in the wrong order but I'm 99% sure it goes - Points-Goal Difference-Goals For-Head-to-head games between the 2 clubs. So I'm fine with the first part after points being goal difference. I'd say if both clubs have made the same GD though, then it should go to those 2 individual head-to-head games home and away, and if Leeds have beat Everton twice in the season then that should be good enough to send Everton down. Goals for doesn't really matter as much as the head to head results in my opinion, because why should goals for be better than goals against necessarily? If 2 teams have matched each other points and GD (whether down to good scoring or good defending), if one club has beat the other twice then that is the better of the 2 clubs over a season (only IN MY OPINION) I think there are a few more stages after as well before it gets decided with a literal coin-toss, the odds of that are near impossible though. If it ever did, I'd really hope they'd scrap it and do a play-off match instead.

It also means the line up for the PL next season has a lot of relatively new/unstable PL teams who, on paper, could easily drop. Burnley, Sheffield United, Coventry/Luton, Forest, Everton/Leeds, Bournemouth could all finish bottom without much surprise. Usually anyone outside the top 6 could go down but there might be a bit more of a distinct middle group in the early predictions for next season. I'd think that Wolves, West Ham, Palace, Fulham, Brentford, plus Brighton and Villa having to deal with Thursday nights, would make up that middle group.

Most people, I guess, would prefer to watch a 4-3 match than 1-0. But whether that actually makes any difference to what teams do in training, what managers say to their players before a game and how it's played seems very dubious.

Leicester take it to the final day Newcastle 0-0 FT. Leeds and foxes on 31 pts, Everton on 33. Is there a shock. Glad its not us.
