I wouldn't say Guehi is easily replicable. He's the most composed defender I think I've seen at any team. IMO his only real area of weakness is aggression and arial ability. Which comes to a head with set plays.

Of the 2 I'd think it would be easier to replace Andersen.

But hey, with 60/70 mil I'd be ok with either going.

If we have ambitions to improve as a club, we can't sell our best players. These players have bonded very well, and we need to keep them together, especially as Wolf's future is so uncertain

If Guehi did go I wonder if the club might make a move for Bella-Kotchap from Southampton. He looked really good whenever I saw him and we were rumoured to be scouting him for a while before he ended up there.

As it is I wouldn't want us to lose either Guehi or Andersen. The former is quick and intelligent, while the latter is big and has that fantastic passing range. Richards looked really good when he's filled in, but obviously his injuries are a concern. I also wonder what O'Brien's future is after a seemingly successful loan in Belgium. He's a ball-playing centre-back, is big and scores quite a few. Always looked composed when I saw him for the U23s.

If Geuhi gets sold for a large amount of money to a top six team this will speak volumes about Chelsea and the mess of a club it is. Rather than nurture a young, promising talent they sell him off to a London rival so they can carry on buying expensive foreign imports - and look what that has done. Marc and us will quite likely end up above them at the end of the season!

We'll have to disagree there.

We cannot compete with most of the clubs in this league financially in a straight fight.

Granted we've not really sold many players of late, but we were ok with out AJ, Bolasie, AWB etc. Players leaving is a fact of life, no point trying to chain them up. We've effectively done that with Wilf and there is a good chance he'll leave for zero.

If brilliant bids come in, way above their market value we'd be mad not to consider them, and weight up their worth to the team vs what you could do with the money.

Good shout about the Southampton player. We certainly need a tighter defence, especially height as our two centre backs are stronger on the ground than they are in the air. It may be losing Guehi and replacing him will strengthen us in the air on set pieces and give us some extra cash? We will of course miss his other attributes as he is a quality premiership player :-(

Said it multiple times but with our focus on purchasing youth the model only works if we're able to sell the odd one for good profit and then re-invest. The thing is to try to spread this out rather than have one summer where you lose 3 players. We need to be decisive and clear early on. IMO if there's genuine interest in him we should deliver a message to prospective buyers that we expect a deal similar to Fofana's to Chelsea. Anything less will not be considered. Guehi has a fantastic skillset,is a great professional and English which comes at a premium.

Except as I understand it they have a 20% share of any sell on fee!

More reports this morning that the big clubs are circling around Guehi. If true, I can't think that we will manage to hang onto him this summer.

What we don't want is the player being unsettled, and offers not being enough.

I really like Guehi, but I wonder if he would actually start regularly for any of the teams rumoured to be interested. He is quite short for a centre-back at 6' and lacks the aggression of someone like Martinez to make up for it. Great player for us, but I think he needs a couple more years with us where he will be forced to defend more before he moves to a bigger club. Also if Chelsea do get 20% of any fee I imagine Parish would want 60m+ otherwise the return on investment might not be considered enough. Is he a 60m+ defender right now? I'm not so sure, but then Maguire went for 80m so what do I know.

Before Man Utd signed Maguire he had played around 250 games, covering the Championship and PL, and he had at least 16 England caps.

Man Utd purchased a player who was strong in the air, a threat at set-pieces, was more than capable of bringing the ball out of defence, distributed the ball well with a good a long diagonal pass in his locker and was physically imposing.

I would suggest that Man Utd signed a more capable player than Guehi is at this present time but I recognise his qualities and he will improve with experience.

So that's 10 million plus? Pocket change to a clueless, spendthrift club like them.
