The finest example of "WHITE FLIGHT" , who preaches to others.

exactly!! Get away from the ethnically diverse county of Lincolnshire to the predominantly white county of Cornwall and then tell everyone else not to worry about immigration!!

I live in Cornwall because I love the coast and the countryside. Whether my neighbours are "white" is of no concern at all. What matters is how they behave, not what they look like.

The numbers have been distorted by Covid and students.

There was a massive drop of incoming (immigration) during covid but those leaving (emigration) increased. i.e. Possibly people going back to their country of origin during covid. Students, which makes up the biggest portion, also stopped coming over.

If you look at the graphs this can be confirmed.

I would be interested to see numbers based on who was leaving the UK during that period. Was it UK residents leaving or those who previously immigrated here. I suspect it was mostly the latter.

I've never understood why Students are included in these numbers. Foreign students need a visa and once their course has finished need to leave (after a short period depending on the length of the course) or re-apply to stay and work here.

The above is also stated in the analysis shown below.

[Link]

Because they still need a place to live access to public transport health care and of course as they are students education. So unless they have zero impact on all public services they should be included.

Splitting it into two parts -
Those arriving - the numbers need to be drastically reduced because this Country cannot cope.
That is every Government's fault for the last 40 years or so - short termism with no responsible long term thinking - disgraceful behaviour from all concerned.
We should also only allow nett contributors into the UK, unless they are genuine asylum seekers or as we have recently seen - the Ukraine and Hong Kong issue.
Those who arrive to take benefits and pay little or no tax are not required - end of.
Those leaving the UK - this is the real worry to me - highly qualified people who have contributed greatly to Society with expertise and tax etc. over the years, want out of the UK and that means that we are the losers.
I have it on good authority that large numbers of seriously wealthy individuals - people who pay millions in tax year on year are leaving.
Two reasons - the UK is fast becoming a s***hole but more importantly - current Tory taxes and the scary thought of what Labour will fleece them for, has seen them planning for or already taking their wealth elsewhere.
When Labour get in - as they surely and sadly will - there will be even fewer people paying tax to support the ever increasing benefit takers and the UK will become a third world country - somewhere it is currently heading so fast it is scary!

My suspicion as well, it's not just a numbers game. One in and one out may not be the same as the one out maybe a qualified good wage earner and the one in an unskilled low wage earner.

I have not seen any stats on who emigrates so it is a suspicion only.

In fact, things are changing rapidly locally, especially in Truro where there is a noticeable inflow of Asian and African immigrants since Brexit.

Our kids grew up in more enlightened times but had other problems to face. They weren’t better or worse. Just different. That’s their times.

Our grandkids won’t know your times, only their parent’s and their own, which will seem completely normal to them.

I feel sorry for your grandkids too. They have a grandad telling them how great it used to be and how their attitudes are all wrong. Nothing new there!

You are over stepping the mark my friend.

In your usual clueless way, you know nothing about me or my family, and I suggest that you restrict comments to the subject.

Don't make it personal.

Wow, we're all going to have better attitudes but a much worse standard of living. Can't wait! I'll just happily ignore the homelessness, rubbish, crime and abuse whilst I debate how every gender should be accepted, no matter how bizarre or marginal. When I get mugged or burgled, I'll just shrug my shoulders and say it's the mans fault for keeping people down. When I'm at the doctor for two days and no one, including the receptionist, speaks English, I'll just say it's lucky we're so diverse.

How do you know they are recent immigrants, or African or Asian for that matter. They may well be UK citizens?

This is the point, how many of the outgoing numbers include for example UK doctors going to Australia, Canada and the US.

Even the Hong Kong Hospital Authority is having recruitment roadshows in the UK

It's the mentality of the deluded idealist.

They don't see the harsh reality. They close their eyes to it and dream of some completely unattainable utopia.

The rather big clues coming from the entirety of human history doesn't seem to touch them.

The folly and clear patterns of the past are lost to them.
In fact, they even rewrite it, so it fits with their delusions.

Wasn't Truro where your wife feels unsafe?
