I obviously want us to beat Forest and finish above Chelsea though I am growing strangely fond of twelfth place. And this season we did the double over four team in the top flight for only the second time - 90/91 the last time.

Table from beginning of April, we would be 6th, Chelsea 18th

Always going to be a tricky season - 4 weeks without a game due to the Queen, and 6 weeks with the World Cup. No Gallagher Kouyate and PV’s second season. 11th is a good result for me. And finishing strongly. Ten years in the Prem

COYP!!!

It seems blindingly obvious, but you writing this is the first time I've appreciated that the season had TEN WEEKS of breaks within it. However, did the breaks make the season any more "tricky" for us than for the other teams in the division? On the contrary, given the lack of depth of our squad, maybe two large breaks was to our advantage in terms of rest and recovery. I don't know the answer; I'm just floating the suggestion.

Palace since 19 August 1972. Palace 1 (Tony Taylor) Liverpool 1 (Emlyn Hughes)

Fair point, not obvious really - we basically got loads of points off the teams below us and not many from those above. Whenever we played them.

This thread always remind me of loosing 17 points to Chelsea-Tottenham-Everton. I really want to pinch myself to check it is not real as it is really unbelievable 😊

It’s worth mentioning Chelsea are the only team that can catch us.

Wolves technically can but would have to beat Arsenal by double digits.

Chelsea’s last game against Newcastle too which is worthy of note.

I can’t see us losing Sunday though a draw is quite likely. 11th would be a very good return for a season in which we went multiple months without winning, sacked the manager and Joachim Andersen was subjected to the indignity of having an impromptu photograph taken with me whilst having a cigarette hanging out of my mouth.

2-0 Palace on Sunday, COYP!!!

Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!!

We’ve been saying that a lot recently, unbelievable we stayed in 12th for about 3 months considering we didn’t win a game for so long. It makes you think what might have been if we hadn’t had such a long dodgy spell. The likes of Fulham, Brentford and Villa immediately above us have been getting praise all year for having great seasons, but are they really that much better than us? Without our poor run, I don’t think so.

I think a lot of those teams have stronger squads than us but, when everyone's fit, our first choice eleven is decent.

Of the £2.2 million difference, how much goes to the players?

Don't forget we were sh1te after the WC. Never fully understood why. Perhaps PV guiding the team down the wrong path. Whatever that break didn't appear to be beneficial for the team at all.

I have now sufficient funds to last me the rest of my life. Provided I don't buy anything.
