Ten man Crystal Palace came back from a goal down to draw 1-1 at Burnley.

The Eagles recovered from a second minute Jay Rodriguez penalty to level the scores with a spot-kick themselves from Darren Ambrose in the second half and held on despite losing Wilfried Zaha to a 72nd minute red card.

They got off to the worst possible start when after just 48 seconds, Jonathan Parr fouled Martin Paterson in the box after a mix-up with Paddy McCarthy to give away a penalty. Parr was shown a yellow card and Rodriguez dispatched the kick.

Burnley began to dominate the match with Danny Ings forcing Julian Speroni into a save but Palace could have taken a shock lead before half-time.

Goalkeeper Lee Grant made a superb save to push out Glenn Murray's header from an Ambrose cross, then tipped a shot from Chris Martin wide of the post and from the resulting corner, Grant held McCarthy's header.

Palace pressed forward in the second period with Grant denying Murray again and the keeper comfortably collected Ambrose's free-kick.

But the breakthrough came on 64 minutes thanks to the skill of Zaha who forced Kieran Trippier into fouling him in the area and Ambrose scored his third penalty and eighth goal of the season.

Speroni then pushed Trippier's free-kick over the bar before Palace were reduced to 10 men for the final 18 minutes after Zaha was sent off for an off-the-ball incident with David Edgar.

Burnley: Grant, Trippier, Duff, Edgar, Mee, Wallace (Austin 75), Marney, McCann, Ings, Rodriguez (McQuoid 46), Paterson (Stanislas 88).

Not Used: Jensen, Bartley.

Palace: Speroni, Clyne, Gardner, McCarthy, O'Keefe, Jedinak, Ambrose, Parr, Zaha, Martin (Moxey 73), Murray.

Not Used: Price, Garvan, Easter, McShane.
