GARETH WILLIAMS could be handed a first start of the season in tonight's Carling Cup tie at home to Doncaster Rovers.
The Eagles youngster could get his chance to impress Steve Kember as Dougie Freedman is rested as he recovers from a hamstring strain. Jamie Smith (groin) is also rested.
Tommy Black is in the middle of a four-match ban following his two red cards this season and Tony Popovic (blister) is out injured. Darren Powell is rated 50/50 to overcome his thigh injury.
Boss Kember said: "We certainly wont be underestimating Doncaster because they're going to come here eager to cause an upset and will work their socks off out there. I expect us to match them in work rate and hopefully our extra ability will see us through."
Doncaster winger Francis Tierney is a doubt due to a calf strain and manager Dave Penney is aware of Palace's threat: "They started the season well, but, by all accounts have been playing well recently without really getting the
goals - a bit like ourselves. It's going to be a big test."
