I know there is already a thread from some weeks back in Football Talk, but tomorrow, Leyton Orient are in the High Court facing a winding up order. Sad times and brings back unhappy memories of when we faced a similar situation. Just thought that more fans read Palace Talk and might like to take a moment to reflect on how far we have come and how different things might have been. Good luck O's.

I was a little bit young to fully grasp the first administration but the second one was absolutely horrible, I was resigned to us going under and thought CPFC2010 coming in was a miracle. So it proved and to be honest it puts all our current 'problems' in perspective. Good look to the O's anyway, a great shame if they don't get the same luck with a bailout.

I always thought that Orient would do well with Barry Hearn at the helm, as a boxing promoter he was excellent and had a golden touch. Football's not so easy, apparently.... Good luck to the O's.

Great shame... another London club under threat, despite on the money being thrown around in English football these days. Just goes to show the suction power of the "big 6" in London. I hope they get out of it.. like others have said, 2010 was horrible and I can completely relate.

Barry Hearn sold the club to some Italian Geezer for 4 million quid. This Italian guy sounds a right dodgy one. I have a horrible feeling that at some point an historic club is going to go under.

He doesnt own them anymore. He actually did a good job of keeping them above water and punching above their weight for many years and they so nearly got to the championship under him last year. The new guy is another foreign owner who doesnt have a clue. Made wholesale changes to something that was working.

I don't claim to know all the facts, but there's an Orient supporter at work who seems pretty genned up on what's happening there. He reckons that he's so loaded that he doesn't give a monkeys about losing his investment. Apparently no club is allowed in the conference (or whatever it's called now) whilst in administration, therefore if they do go into admin and get relegated, they'll go down two divisions. This is a disgrace that one bloke can ruin an institution just because he can. If all of the London premier league clubs stumped up what would be a pittance for them, then I'm sure Orient could be saved somehow. I know there are rules about people only being able to own one club, but I'm sure that a cooperative could be formed and assigned to someone else until such time the situation can be resolved properly. The whole thing stinks.

So I manage a Workshop which provides a safe learning environment for blokes struggling with PTSD and other mental health issues. Being a Palace fan isn't listed yet. |
