A couple of smart goals from Banks and Street see the Palace youngsters reach half time 0-2 away at the National League side. Some neat football but also a few sloppy pieces of play that would be punished against better opponents.

Comfortable 3-0 win in the end although Southend should have scored at least one in the second half.

Somewhat of a contrast in facilities with flickering lights or are they saving on the electricity bill. No Tayo or Rak-Saki. Southend should have made it 2-2 then a good Palace goal to finish.

Personally think Banks and Street are decent prospects. Street reminds me of a proper no 9 like Murray. Real hustle and quite smart. Always gives a lot. Banks is versatile - seems to be able to play in almost every position and has a lot of skill. Both getting stronger and faster all the time too. Not sure Street will get a look in with us but Banks could be on the fringes if we don't loan him out.

Steely tip for 22/23. Akinwale. I think he will play PL football by the end of the season, possibly in place of Benteke. Assuming Palace don't send him out somewhere. Keep 'em peeled.
