Ok there will be loan fees but these two + Riedewald still leave plenty in the kitty

If de Boer can live with Tomkins, Ward and Luka (as last resort) as backups and takes a risk that Benteke remains fit until Wickham is available, it seems to me that a key player(along with a goaly) would be a no 10 who can create and score.

Mata seems to be on the out at United - he didn't even get a mention in the Guardian preview. Particularly if they buy another winger and want to progress Pereira and Martial his outings are going to be few and far between. He is costing them something like 7 million per in wages

He seems the sort of upgrade that is a good bet to see us in the 8-11 rather than 12-16 range which was just a few points last year but worth a lot in terms of end of season

Two years younger than Puncheon and way more productive, I think he would be worth a punt

You need a reality check, we are not going to be buying expensive established players. We don't have the funds.

Spent a bit on players in January !

Don't expect the acquisition of expensive established players.

I saw 140. But he will want to play. He gave 1% to charity. Maybe 20% off for Palace! And if he's out of our league but cant make a top 6 team his future in UK would not be great

It needn't be Mata. Hopefully de Boer has a cheaper alternative. But I think it's a position enhancement that could easily pay back with a 3-4 higher place worth around 8 million

at the end of the day, a player if Mata's magnitude would require a team after him all summer, such would be the sum of money required.

We haven't been linked once plus you could easily see Everton, Spurs, Arsenal even check this guy out before us.

Plus if FdB has proved anything, he is only looking for younger, smaller contracted players, to go in tandem with our budget, at least for this season anyway. As we have to make up for that big January spend.

Maybe next summer a player like this could be possible if we finish 7th or 8th or win a cup this season.

Whose that stoke forward, tricky player, plays just behind the strikers? hes pretty good.

Bojan! he'd be ideal if available.

Whoever has suggested mata is living a bit of a fantasy.

However we do need to buy some quality. I refuse to believe there is a lack of funding there despite what was necessary in January.

I acknowledge our unprecedented success of recent years and the boards/SPs role in that but in reality football is about wanting and dreaming of more. We had a terrible time under Pardew and this fantasy of playing attractive football. If De Boer pulls it off it will be miraculous to say the least but we are still without a premier league quality GK and with a single striker which is insane.

Some money needs to be spent on what should be painfully obvious necessities and not Bojan or Juan Mata as suggested, although I am a big fan of the latter it should be said.

Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!!
