Go for that. A bit of a Lerma type signing.

I wonder if he's let his contract run down because Leicester were in the Championship. Might he agree new terms with them if they seal promotion?

Not a bad shout DC. However, his position (DM) is one we're well stocked with at present so would we want to spend a sign-on fee and wages on him. If we are genuinely interested, might that point to either doubts about Doucoure's recovery or a fear of losing him this window?

2 months ago i'd have said yes. Today maybe not, especially as Leicester has just got promoted so may be offering better terms.

The form of Hughes recently has been a revelation and we have supposedly triggered a 1 year extension. We also have Doucoure coming back and have Wharton and Lerma. So 4 for 2 places. We also have Ozoh coming through - although potentially he could be loaned out next season.
Then of course there is Ahamada who whilst has been a big disappointment was a £10m signing and is still very young. OG will know him a bit from his time in Germany and i think after a decent pre season could get a tune out of him.
I'm assuming Jairo will be released BTW.

More than likely.

Just a thought, Leicester are promoted but they are facing all sorts of trouble from the authorities so may spend next season getting points deducted and not having a great transfer window.

Anyway my point being that Ndidi may not fancy that and see Palace as a safer bet?

Needed to be done and in all fairness is a good player. Even though Hughes is doing well, Ndidi is probably an upgrade. Lerma is not getting any younger and we could get Ndidi on a five year deal. We'll see I guess.

I always liked Hughes but felt as though my patience with him was running thin. Staggering that he now looks (to me) like a critical component for us, he's been superb under Glasner.

Doucoure, Wharton, Hughes, Lerma and Ndidi would be a very reassuring selection of midfielders. Ndidi on a free would therefore seem like good business, factoring in potential injuries/busy schedule etc.

Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!!

Ndidi is a far better player than Hughes.

I think Hughes had his best ever game for us against Newcastle but let's remember that Ndidi was being linked with all the top Champions League sides only a couple of years ago.

Writing is on the wall for Guehi leaving. Lerma as a viable CB option with Ndidi, Wharton and Doucoure as the main contenders for two CM spots leaves us very strong.

Every time people say 'we want to finish top 10' - putting someone like Ndidi in your team over Hughes or Ahamada is an example of what you need to do to get there. The top 10 have benches that ooze quality - this would do that for us.
