G'day all.

Long-time fan, first-time poster from Australia.

I've managed to snag a couple of tickets for the game against Manchester United on May 6.

I've already got my first taste of the Premier League experience with the kick-off time change forcing me to amend my travel plans!

Now I'm keen to go the whole hog and have a drink in the pub before the game.

Is The Clifton Arms the best place to do it?

And where do fans generally eat before the game?

I'm travelling with my wife, and while we're both experienced football watchers, this will be our first ever Premier League game.

Any advice welcome.

Absolutely stinging for this clash and the chance to chant: "you're just a bunch of football tourists!" without a hint of irony at the Man United fans.

G'day, Mike have a look Box park just outside East Croydon station that would be a good place to start your day, loads of different food outlets & bars.
Then jump on the train to Selhurst then head either to the Selhurst Railway club £3 entry fee but cheaper beers) it's literally 2 mins walk from train station or walk up to the Clifton 10-15 mins next to the stadium (more expensive)

Have a great day & hopefully see us take 6 points from Manure

The Victory club is good on match day. They have rolls for £2.50 if you just want a snack and a good selection of ales and beers.

£3 each to get in.

Its between the ground and Norwood Junction and you can go back after the game if you want.

Obviously the wife may want a better lunch so it depends where you are staying/coming from.

The Victory Club is certainly the best for an authentic Palace experience but I thought you could only get in with proof of season tickets. I might be wrong and I’m sure there are exceptions. Maybe call before and explain your circumstances.

You can get in the victory club with a valid match day ticket! Plus £3 entry!

Clifton, Victory club or the cherry Tree all good on a match day.

Clifton has a very busy bar but decent outdoor space at the back and excellent snack van! Estrella lager. Closest pub to the holmesdale road end. A mixed crowd in there of all ages.

Victory club proper old school working man’s club but very lively on match day and lots of room inside. Lots of choices of lagers and ales and can also get jugs of lager if you’re on a sesh! A victory roll is something to behold especially if you like blocks of cheddar and whole onions in a role lol! Lovely crowd in there of old and young and great bar staff!

The cherry tree a bit more rowdy crowd but again lots of space outside and a good range of beers! Often good in there after a game if you want a sing song and little disco! Sometimes there’s a BBQ and things going on too. It’s right next to Norwood junction station.

Enjoy the game! UTP

Just need a match day home ticket, (not QR code only) or a CIU card for another club. You get in for free then
