Nineteen year old reportedly arrested with speculation of gang involved with several fleeing the scene. Initial police feedback is that the arrested has displayed serious mental health issues and that terrorism as a motive can't be ruled out. The deceased is a woman in her 60s.

Just seen some of this on the news. Of course the fail is latching on to terrorism with all the usual reader comments asking what the attacker looks like.. I can't be the only one who is sick to the back teeth of all this. What looks like it could be a serious mental health issue being latched onto and cries of terrorist, Isis, usual islamaphobia. It is so wrong.

Anyone remember Eden Strang the guy with the sword who went into the church in Thornton heath several years ago. Clearly mental health.. can you imagine the headlines if that happened now...

I was early turn at South Norwood when that attack happened in Thornton heath, loads of calls came in so you knew it was serious. The ARV that attended would have been on scene in a few minutes had they turned right at Croydon police station but decided to go left, hindsight.

The point I am making is with jo Cox the mail for example went straight down the mental health loner route virtually from the get go despite there being claim and counter claim of a supposed far right leaning and suggestions he shouted Britain first. Compare this with today, ok they cannot at this stage rule out terrorism, I totally accept that, my gripe is with the umpteen articles on the home page of mailonline which talks about Lee Rigby, 7/7 and this incident all in the same article. It's scandalous. Yes, I have gone off on a tangent here, and my problem is with some of the msm but I still think its a disgusting way to report the news and many of the reader comments underneath are pretty grim.

I completely agree with you Michaela and totally understand the point you are trying to make. It's detrimental to the end goal of ending all these horrific events if the irresponsible reporting continues to try and create an even bigger divide between the communities with sensationalist reporting. Problem is that islamaphobia sells papers. There are clearly mental health issues at source in a lot of these incidents and its a fact that Isis etc use their propaganda to target these types of individual.

Are you saying the death of Lee Rigby was sensationalist reporting ?
