Ha, five middle class weather cult members will have a few years to mingle with folks who don't have Waitrose cards or are called Cressida and Cinnamon. Oh to be a fly on the wall for their first couple of weeks in jail
Responsibility Deficit Disorder is a medical condition. Symptoms include inability to be corrected when wrong, false sense of superiority, desire to share personal info no else cares about, general hubris. It's a medical issue rather than pure arrogance. |

Oi! I've got a Waitrose card. I don't have a silly name (other than my nom de plume). And I'm anti-Just Stop Oil and all other climate zealotry. But yes; this news did make me laugh as I literally posted on the Climate Change Activists thread (ie I posted "HeHe" ). Edited by YT (19 Jul 2024 7.04am)

Nothing wrong in protesting your POV, plenty wrong in breaking the law and disrupting the lives of your fellow citizens. These people have had plenty of warnings and personally I think the justice system has been far too lenient until now. Perhaps they will re-think their strategy.

Being entertained is obviously far more important than having any sort of principle about you. We will see when Tommy Robinson or someone similar falls foul of these nonsense protest laws - I’m sure you’ll get the point then. Regardless of their cause, the state imprisoning people for this length of time for non-violent protest is bad.

Regardless of their cause, the state imprisoning people for this length of time for non-violent protest is bad. If you categorise protest as either ‘black or white’ (violent or non-violent), then I understand your view. However, until the law was changed, nonviolent protest in the past consisted of a man with a sandwich board declaring that the end is nigh. He stopped no one from going about their business. Likewise standing outside premises with banners and slogans in a predefined area was what nonviolent protest was. By moving protest to a situation where it interferes with the lives of others is where the problem arises as now you are obstructing others, and the more people you obstruct the more likely you are to get penalised. Add in any previous warnings and the sentence becomes more understandable. Anyway, we are emptying prisons so I doubt if they will serve more than a year.
hats off to palace, they were always gonna be louder, and hate to say it but they were impressive ALL bouncing and singing. |

If Tommy Robinson held up the M25 would people still say that is okay? I hate ULEZ but I don't agree with the blade runners cutting down the cameras that is criminal damage. The law should not pick its response based on whether you like the cause or not.
