Two cracking programmes, prefer the old Catchphrase with Roy Walker, but Vernon Kaye's patter is starting to get nearly as slick as the great Les Dennis, though he isn't quite their sartorially just yet. Prefer the old versions for the fashion victims, but that's for another thread (or there again maybe not). For me it has to be Family Fortunes - the finale is so exciting. Neither is a patch on Bullseye of course, but I would be interested to carry out my own survey to borrow a phrase (lol!!!)

Vernon Kay's jacket sleeves are irritatingly short. Completely spoils an otherwise average show.

Family Fortunes was more a spectator sport of mocking the afflicted, than game show. Catchphrase had its moments, but Les Dennis depressed 'has my career really come to this face' when faced with utter stupidity remains one of the finest existential moments in television. You can see the hope for death in his eyes. Perfectly selected for Extras by Gervais, a spin off about Les Dennis, in which Les Dennis played Les Dennis (ala Small world) would have been a magnificent dark comedy about ennui and despair.

I like Vernon Kay. Not so much that i'd welcome flirty texts. But i think he's ok.

Good question. I'm off to ask 100 people what they think.
Living down here does have some advantages. At least you can see them cry. |
