In the 70s it was the unions f*cking up the country, not now: Carillion, BHS, Oxfam, NHS, Southern Rail, Academy Chains, G4, a botched mix of private and public which makes monopolistic gravy trains run by evil clones who have gone on organisational psychology courses who teach you how to be a manipulative Machiavellian c*nt and dress up all their evil bullsh*t in wretched technobabble. Today the problem is our ars* kissing acceptance of cynical management. I think so. Not all of you may agree.

Oh don't get clever - I'm just summarising, you could well blame management more for the decline of industry than unions in the 70s, but there was an ideological syndicalism about Scargill and his like, but of course there's a bigger picture, however, I'm chair of the union where I work but I can see there's a case for blaming the unions for Thatcher's victory - btw one of my political heroes is John Edmonds former head of the GMB. But the point is what is screwing the country now is definitely NOT the unions, more too many people's lily livered attitude which does not put union involvement on a par with work, paying taxes and voting. So what are your thoughts on the corruption in our management culture - I'm interested to hear that, not all that who's the cleverest tit for tat which is the death of threads like these.

Don’t think technobabble is the problem. We have too many untrained leaders, too much short termism and too many people looking after #1 without much thought for the bigger picture. It always amazes me how CEOs can spin any staff issue to justify their personal self interest whilst often presiding over deeply unfair regimes. You have to admire the structural ways in which Germany addresses those issues I also hate people with authority but no responsibility. Regional Convenors spring to mind.
