Sigh! Whatever happened to a nice painting, sculpture, pile of bricks or a light being turned on and off?

I should think Turner would be turning in his grave....

Sigh! Whatever happened to a nice painting, sculpture, pile of bricks or a light being turned on and off? I saw this last week with a friend. We had gone to see the Edward Burns Jones exhibit (marvellous by the way). As I have a Tate membership we popped in. The very nice man on the door hinted it was a load of cr*ap and that was an underestimation. We were out in under 2 mins I would have been furious if I had paid for that rubbish. 4 films that a 12yo with a pocket phone could have done better. I have memberships to the Tate and the National Art Pass and whilst I have no in-depth knowledge of art I usually see about half a dozens exhibitions each year. I know rubbish when I see it. I hate the Turner prize.

Forgot to add the first film we saw was "shaky" cam about an incident involving Palestinian protestors and Israeli soldiers. Cos wonder where the artists sympathy were. The reason it was rubbish is because we get an explanation of the incident and yet you see none of this on the video. If that is the benchmark next year I will submit a painting of the Mona Lisa. What do you mean you can't see her? She's behind that brick wall. Edited by Badger11 (04 Dec 2018 3.13pm)

Yet more pretentious bollocks masquerading as Art. Wasn't there a famous skit a few years back where young kids or chimps painted on canvas, they then set them up in a gallery & had some of these dimwits fawning all over it !

Real artists produce worthwhile creations while untalented poseurs (Emin and the like} produce the type of nonsense you see in the Turner Prize entries. None of this stuff relates to the genius of Turner himself. It is largely a con encouraged by Saatchi and his financial backers for people to invest in rubbish which then acquires a value for the next chump to pay even more Frankly it's not worth bothering to even look at or discuss.
