Not really. The older generations hold the capital and pass it on as they see fit. It may take longer to own a house but in the end the ability also gets passed on. Meanwhile I would bet the richer oldies contribute to eg education.

Reintroduced? The only thing that ever changed was the accents. The class system is both a virtue and a vice.

the class system never went away, lords, monarchs, u and non-U, the plebs play footy the toffs play wugger so we have yobs who can't break out of a working class idiom (hello jesse Lingard) and hooray henrys with delusions of grandeur both ignorant in their own way so we have to get foreigners with an educated attitude in to up our game, all us and them, it's why we don't have any industry and trade massively at a deficit apart from financial invisibles, who needs brains when you can be posh, enlightened thinking is only for the elite hence our unstoppable decline to being a third world country. rant over

Too much wealth inequality is a problem and is a factor in increasing instability and societal disengagement (but by no means the only one). However, implementing the meritocratic system and regulating it for corruption are at the cornerstone of what has been most successful in western civilisation. I would agree that the financial sector in concert with the political classes has been allowed to play dice with economics and escalate and disfigure fiscal realities....the invention of capital...However that has also brought in huge amounts of tax, even if some corporates manage to avoid it. Society should have its sights fixed on staunchly protecting and improving its meritocratic systems from the direct ideological attacks from fractions of the far left and the indirect attacks from those who are corrupt and greedy on the economic right.
