Watching the video of Geoff Thomas reminded me of what a great skipper he was, Im only 26 so post 80's Im out of the loop! But in my life time Thomas wins hands down, capatain for an FA cup final and a true leader on the pitch. Who would u recognise as your favourite captain from the past? Apologies if this has been posted in the past, if it has I dont remember it so my bad!!

Thomas was very good, but in my mind Jim Cannon was the greatest, a natural born leader.

Jim Cannon wins this by a country mile. Geoff Thomas was good, but Jimbo was a legend and I cannot contemplate a better captain or commited player ever being better than him in my lifeltime. For fighting spirit and commitment Michael Hughes was also a great captain.

In my younger days I always looked up to Johnny McNichol,a very good captain but I guess Cannon has to be in the reckoning along with Geoff Thomas. Edited by eagle in cornwall (04 Feb 2011 12.00pm)

For me Geoff was the greatest skipper. In terms of a leader Derry was a terrific captain too! He lacked the ability Geoff had but last season he was brilliant. We've missed him this year!
