Remind me the next penalty like that one today under Sam. Bet you that is the last one. That will be the difference. With Alan things happened repetitively. Sam knows the fine margins, respect for points and how precious they and your goal and scoring goals are.

'Respect the point away from home' was his comment post-match. Very subtle but you know he's highlighting a major problem. We have good players but the mentality is all wrong, so is the preparation, alertness and fitness. It'll all change for the better. Shame we didn't win today because we should've been in a position to test us seeing a game out for 45 mins but if we had been picking up a point regularly when we should've like today, we wouldn't question today, or probably even have Sam here at all.

Actually the keeper did well and made a good save, it was a guess, the keeper made a guess and he went the right way, had he gone the other way it actually would have looked quite good from Benteke. It was a good point today and I never said I didn't respect it, Watford are a very good and organised side this season and it showed during the second half, a bit like Hull who I also said are better then their placings at the moment, Moan.C with all their oil had real trouble breaking them down today, they look the best of the bottom three to me.

Hull sorted out their game against better oppo away from home v Spurs and West Ham I think. We should've beaten them though. They were open enough to be beat. That was a c0ck up.

It was a fortunate guess/read by the keeper although you could just wait and still have time to respond to the direction of the ball. It wasn't really a good 'save' as such because it was such a sh1t penalty that is to easy to stop going in. Too close to the middle, too soft, too predictable because that's his trick. I'd say it was good goalkeeping in the sense he did his homework and knew what he's likely to do. He deserves credit for it but I wouldn't call it a good 'save', definitely a sh1t pen you won't see again I reckon.

He is getting closer to their level but he needs to do it for a bit longer. If you see his defending he assumes they can't get round him but enough times for it to be an issue at the top level a player can knock it outside of him and whip a cross in. A mistake if he goes next month IMO.

..he will have better playing mates around him defending a little bit better then we ever have and he will actually have a goalkeeper to call a mate who will actually understand what to do with a football if it comes too near to him if he does happen to make any mistakes with his own defending, what is Speroni actually doing at our club these days? and isn't it weird how Moan.U have managed to get a four hundred year old striker scoring for their team, what ever happened to Murray? Ooohh yes, Palace sold him because he was a fossil.....

Slipping the ball on the outside of Zaha and whipping a ball into the mixer has nothing to do with a keeper or having better players around you. If you don't stop it at selhurst it's also likely to happen at Spurs as the home team.

The Murray one was a problem because we'd just brought in Bamford and Gayle wouldn't go to a small championship club. We had 4 strikers we thought would be available but it turned out Bamford was sh1t and Gayle got injured. Bad call as it turns out by Pardew and Parish based on a business decision. A case of them agreeing a bit too much maybe, unless Pardew didn't rate him following his decent 1st half of 2015.

..yep and I feel that Benteke showed Gomes he was going in that direction all through his run up and in his slow down part it did nothing but make him realise he was in trouble, their keeper did him fair and square, he needs to go back to the drawing board over them without a doubt Rudi.

Youve made your point, now why don't you give it a f*****g rest, it's getting really really boring now.

There were some positives to take away from the game, and also some negatives.

Sam will have seen the best and worst of Palace today, all in one game.

Had Benteke have scored, I think we would have won comfortably.

But the second half performance was a disappointment.

..was that because of the way Watford played, or was it because of the way we played?

There will always be two answers to this.

Actually 3 answers and I'd say it's because of both. We should've had ourselves 2-0 up at half time pen or no pen.

..yes, Zaha was definitely looking for it and if perhaps one day he actually learns that by trying to stay on his bloody feet he might actually be able to help his mates a little bit more, he mucks about toooooo much and if Spurs come for him we should agree huge amounts and strengthen ourselves with an actual goalkeeper and an actual defender.

WTF Watch the replay, he was clipped, not saying it was a pen but definately not a dive. When ankle gets clipped, running at speed, you try staying upright.

You do spout a load of boll^^ks at times, Zaha has a couple of good games and he is too good for us, he isn't even the best player in the team.
WH is a decent keeper, I agree we need some defenders.

Benteke put it into the exact same spot as the previous penalty he took for us. Exact same run up, same power, same everything. All the keeper had to do, really, was check up on how he takes penalties and respond accordingly. Was a s*** penalty and now that he's missed two this season - much as I love him - let's hope he passes the duty onto someone else.
