I took the woofer out for a walk tonight and saw my first Christmas tree in someone's window. What's the matter with these people ? Personally I wouldn't even bother, but the missus always wants the tree up. It usually goes up a week before Xmas and down before new year. That's enough.

Some people I know put theirs up last week. They then rip them down on boxing day which I find bizarre to be honest. Mine goes up on the first weekend in December sometimes the second. I make and fit Christmas door bows on properties as part of my business. I have had 50 orders in my book since OCTOBER for them. I start fitting on Tuesday. It's barking mad I will admit but I am not about to turn the business down!

Kids like to put the tree and lights up the first weekend in December. It’s a pain in the arse to be honest especially the outdoor lights

Christmas Eve afternoon, along with all the rest of the decorations.

We don't have a Christmas tree in our house, nor decorations etc etc. I don't look at any cards we are sent and my wife daren't put them on display. I get bloody annoyed when I see all the Christmas paraphernalia in the shops nor do I like to see decorations and Christmas trees in pubs, in fact I make negative comments when I walk into local pubs and see they have adorned it with decorations. I was once asked if I could be "Father Christmas" and I can assure you my response contained some industrial language.

I agree, Willo. It's all unnecessary. For children, okay.

We always have a real tree, so it is always a blalance between the extremes of buying too early , then having to buy again as the needles have fallen off the first one, or wait until quite late, so all the good trees are gone. 10 years back I replanted our rooted tree after use in my mum's back garden. It was 6ft tall then. When she moved house a couple of years ago, I reckon it was 20ft.

Val Doonican Also I wouldn't call myself a Christian, but I hate the way a religious festival (for those who want to believe) has been hijacked into a huge commercial show-piece of greed and wanton excess, where 'Christmas' has been shamefully replaced by "Winter Festival", etc Edited by Forest Hillbilly (18 Nov 2017 9.56am)

For the record my wife and I don't buy each other any Christmas presents. Our daughter buys my wife but she doesn't buy me anything. Few years ago, my wife was telling a 'Sun' journalist friend what I am like regards Christmas and he turned to me and said that I was a "miserable f....r"
