So Marc did great against Ukraine and we all applaud him. Problem is the next game up on Tuesday a “Friendly” against Scotland. Am I being paranoid in thinking there is no way that I want to see Eze on the pitch for that game? I can just see him being hacked to pieces in this “Friendly” and him being out for many games. I would prefer that he waits for his next cap in a proper game.COYP

He will be fine if selected which he should be after the inept display of Maddison and lack of creativity in general.

And we still need a striker

My thoughts exactly. After today's showing, he surely has to be picked and there is McTominay looking to put him out of our upcoming game against United

Why the hell southgate didn’t bring him on against Ukraine I’ll never understand, especially looking at how well he played against Malta. Maddison was crap!

Very nervous for Eze. Think he will be in the first eleven for Scotland.

Yes; I think it is squeaky bum time; hopefully only 45 minutes.

I may be in a minority here, but I don't welcome international breaks or enjoy international football. For clubs like Palace we've got everything to lose as well.
If players like Eze play even reasonably well for England, the media hype goes into overdrive and he's being sold from everyone from Real Madrid to Newcastle.
It does raise the player's profile so he may be valued a bit higher, but I'm not sure that's a price worth paying when you consider the downside.
There's also the possibility of the player getting injured on international duty as we found to our cost with Olise.
It's no wonder that Ferguson tried to keep his Man Utd players as far away as possible from playing international games.

Because England lacked creativity in midfield and we don't have a player who can pick up the ball and run at the opponents, oh wait yes we do

Agreed one month into the start of the football season and it stops for this rubbish. I think we have breaks in Oct and Nov as well.

Why on earth can't they scrap these and instead have a month long break after Christmas that coincides with the African Cup of Nations.

This is why I don’t want Southgate anyway near the Palace manager job

Taking the long view - if we don’t let our best players play international football when we get the chance - are we going to have a better team?
