Ever since I started my new(ish) employment I have had my payslips sent via email.

With regards to phone number, your work mobile number should suffice. Personal mobiles are personal and should not be involved with your work. Protect your privacy

The Met Police went from paper payslips to pay slips via email about 2 years ago. To be honest it has been much better and easier. If I've had to provide copy's of my payslips for any reason it's a lot simpler to print them off than fishing through the 15 years worth of paper ones I have at home!!

As Daz has said, your work number should suffice. No need for them to have your private number.

Don't waste your time with jealousy. Sometimes your ahead, sometimes your behind, the race is long. But in the end it's only with yourself!!

Was asked for my passport details, when I asked why they told me it was the law in Guernsey.(company is based there),found out it wasn't true,so asked them to put it in writing...suprise suprise it didn't come.

In the OP's case,I would ask what they need all this info for, then check out what they say.

Been doing them like that since 2012.

Anything you don't want to give them, don't. And if you're fussed about the email address, set up a new one just for them/that.

Optimistic as ever

You're not obliged to give any details you are not comfortable giving.

Payslips over email though is so much easier than paper copies and I've had none go missing electronically compared to Royal Mail.

We have just migrated to an online system. Aslong as you can remember your username and password you're golden.

Which most can't.

I believe all company's over a certain size need to have a database of their workforce of nationality, ethnicity, martial status, sexuality etc as they are required to show the are an equal opportunities employer.

I'm also fairly certain that your record can only be viewed by you direct line manager otherwise the information can only be viewed anonymously as demographics.

However you are also entitled to decline to answer any or all of their questions and there should be that option on the form.

Electronic payslips are becoming pretty standard now. You will probably get your p60 electronically also - it's worth checking that.

Edit: Actually I've had a look at those I line manage and I can't see any of their answers, just the last time they updated it.

I work in Payroll and use an online payslip system for paying workers.

The mobile number and email is used to send individual pins to both, which enables you to register with the payslip system - More secure sending 2 than 1.

Personal or Work doesn't really matter.

Not sure why it would be a concern, it's not like any of that can be used against you. Do you really distrust your employer that much? There is no legal requirement for them to have this stuff though, it just helps them in their monitoring. They may have a contractual right. Marital status may be important depending upon what benefits are offered to you. It is feasible home telephone number is a part either of the health and safety or the disaster recovery/business continuity planning.

If you really don't want to give it to them don't. I just don't see why you would make a fuss. Similarly with online payslips, been around for many many years and non-problematic. Catch up with the 21st Century, the requirement to offer pay in cash is long gone.
