I'm just back from the game. I was sat in with the home fans. Any worries about getting over excited and giving myself away were groundless.

Apart from the first 10 minutes, I was able to sit there and watch us play our usual game of give the ball away and create nothing, and without anything happening that might have tempted me to lose control and jump up.

We seem to be in a hole that there is no way out of and look increasingly clueless.

The 2nd half was particularly painful to watch, and sad to say Eze was awful when he came on, constantly losing the ball.

The manager can't be blamed for Edouard and Olise's poor finishing and there's an argument that we simply don't have (good) enough players with a goal in them.

However, apart from the first ten minutes another tepid and lame performance notable for slow play and a complete lack of urgency after being behind for so much of the game.

The two centre backs our only good performers again and Olise looked our only genuine threat until he went off.

Edouard and Doucoure were absolute sh1te again.

Parish, Freedman and Vieira all shoulder equal share for this mess IMO.

Blame PV if you wish but the real fault is with Parish and Freedman they do the recruiting between them and frankly they go for any player that they can get for the cheapest price or any loan player. PV has made it clear like others before him what he wants but gets what he is given. The whole balance of the team is all wrong we have too many individuals and lack team players. Sorry to say but we have had it, if we can't score!

Yawns PV has been backed with over 100m spent & most people would agree this is the best squad we have had since being in this league.

Loan players cost millions it's like like Fifa you transfer people around for free.

Does anyone know what's gone wrong with Decoure? He started the season well, but gone downhill , a bit like the team?

I would say he is trying to hard and it doesn't help when he is the only one who really is trying others like Schlupp waste of time Doucoure is going 3 mens work.

Not 100% correct but it's clear they are lacking confidence why is that and cant say that both are poor in front of goal take a look at history of bother at other clubs it tells you a different story.

Two center are nothing special lots of little errors and too much side to side and backwards play but I do think a lot of it is due to poor tactics.

Disagree about the last two Ed was doing a lot of closing down and yes he should have scored or hit target from header but he really doesnt get good service and when he does its not expected.

Doucoure did well apart from a few iffy challenges have you forgotten he stopped easily two chances they could have scored and he was the only one even trying to stop them the other mids did nothing (this is the case every game schlupp plays hes useless at anything but going forward with pace which doesn't happen when he starts games)

What do you expect from Parish and Freedman? PV as I said before has best squad we have had in this league with over 100m spent this is a lot for Palace.

Not the game I was at. Doucoure good apart from a few iffy challenges ? Seriously. Also fed up with the utter over simplification / excuse that he's "doing it on his own"

Edouard failed to hit the target from six yards with a simple header and looks slow and weak.

Likewise - my brother and I were sat with the home fans. After such a good start when we could/should have scored twice, I can't believe how pathetic we were as an attacking force once we were a goal down. We appeared to be more concerned about conceding a second rather than going for an equaliser. Certainly no danger of revealing our true colours to those around us given that second half performance.

Didn’t expect much from a run of tough games but worryingly we look incapable of lifting our game for the 6 winnable matches that follow the Arsenal game. The top coaches make players better and have the ability to adapt in games to get a result. If I’m being generous Olise has maybe improved defensively since he came to us but that’s about it. The rest have gone backwards. It was obvious for a while Vieira didn’t know his best 11 and I don’t think it helped chopping and changing his strikers every other game.
We are predictable so teams know how to set up against us and we never change the way we play. You can predict our substitutions and when they will come on. It’s almost as if the decision was made before the game and what happens during the 90 minutes is irrelevant. We signed 2 players to strengthen the squad in January and Arteta must be delighted his lad is getting game time. Meanwhile the guy we signed permanently gets 10 minutes at the end and looks like he has more energy than Eze and Olise.

The board have failed to provide funds, DF has done ok with his signings , PV has failed to build on last years success, and the players aren’t performing. We will be very fortunate to avoid relegation and if we do go down the “project” will be a failure- 10 years in the top league and precious little to show for it!

I’ve been following this board for years. I live in Southern California and became a Palace fan April 10, 2017. I saw that Arsenal match at Selhurst and fell in love. I have watched almost every match since on TV and attended 3 more Palace matches( March 2018 vs Liverpool, Boxing Day 2-1 over West Ham 2020, and another Palace 3-0 over Arsenal last April. I follow the transfer windows and signings of all our mid table competitors. I know I didn’t grow up in Croydon but I love the club and the fans.
The problem we have is a lack of center attacking mid. Doucoure is a holding mid, he’s defensive in nature. When we win the ball in midfield we don’t have a man to carry it forward and make a pass to any diagonal runners. We no longer have wingbacks like PVA who go on overlapping runs to unbalance the opposition’s back line. That leaves long balls from Andersen and the wide isolation ball for Wilf.
Our Player Of The Year last year is rotting on the Chelsea bench. Any other mid table team that loses their POY would be in the same boat. Our scoring will not improve without a real center attacking mid. That said I remain optimistic for a 14th place finish. We have the 4 easiest remaining schedule. We missed two sure goals today and could have won the match. If we can get something out of the Arsenal game we can go on a little run. Staying up this year is likely but pushing for a top half finish won’t happen without better midfield play. COYP.

The problem Terry is the same one we've had for about a decade now; not replacing key players. And as you say midfield is where we are worst with this, and unbelievably so. Jedinak, Cabaye, Milivojevic, McArthur, Gallagher, even Puncheon. These are all key midfield players who either moved on or became too old to fulfil the task and it appears that Freedman and the board just shrug their shoulders and hope it works itself out. Zero shots in three games. That's not the strikers fault, even s*** strikers manage to get a shot away. The issue is our midfield isn't creating anything for them, why? Because our recruitment is all wrong.
I'm not going to accept one diamond-in-the-rough signing from Freedman every three years in exchange for an all round pathetic performance as a recruiter of talent.

For those blaming Edouarde or Mateta in different games you have to look at PV.
He constantly changes them or drops them both when he should be giving one of them a 5-10 game run.
I don't care how good you - without a consistent run you are not "goal or match" fit.
This is on the Manager

I think PV has come to the same conclusion as many of us that niether are good enough and it would be cruel to put them in the spotlight but for brief periods
While they are on the bench there is the hope that of course never materialises when they are actually on the pitch .

Maybe its better to live in hope than in dissapointment

We seem to always be in this same predicament - then somehow- a miracle happens - we win a few games - and the premiership rollercoaster starts all over again the following season.

I think it is different this time. We don’t have those natural leaders on the pitch and our young, inexperienced team are looking less likely to respond to the challenge.

Like all of you, feel sick at the thought of us going down. However, I’m clinging to the fact we need about 10-12 points from our remaining 11 games. It is possible, but we need Lady Luck to start working her magic!!

Hey, when you support Palace you know life ain’t ever going to be straight forward..lol..
