The apology will be forgotten about after Christmas but people's perception of what a muddled fool Corbyn is won't be!

If Labour want to be regarded as a credible alternative party to the Tories then having him as leader relying on Diane Abbot to be his spokesperson is not the way to do it.

I make you wrong there.

No problem with that..... time will tell which of us called it right.

Are you talking about public perception or what the press say? There's a difference. Of course the press are trying to discredit him, the media barons are the ones with most to lose if Corbyn gains even more popularity.

Public perception.

Right now he has the support of the lefty diehards that voted him in - but these are only a very tiny percentage of potential Labour voters.

The overwhelming majority of voters (who are not Labour Party members) do not and will not support him short or long term because of his policies, appearance and failure to generate confidence in his ability to be a genuine PM. His standing on the Nuclear deterrent issue is just one example of this.

Someone like Chuka Umunna would be a much more credible Labour Leader and give them a chance of the public's acceptance I feel.

I dunno, he might be unpopular with swing voters, but given that they switched boats at the last election from Miliband and that the Liberal democrats all but vanished (saved by the dubious democratic process) think someone like Corbyn can deliver a lot of those who left or lost interest in the Labour party under the rise of New labour.

Similar to how the SNP have come to dominate Scotland by focusing on issues that resonate on a personal level in Scotland, I think that Corbyn represents a possible return to a Labour party that is an opposition rather than a similar alternative. Whether he can win an election is another matter.

He doesn't seem popular with his party, but delivered at the first test so far. A lot of those 'leftie diehards' joined Labour via various means to get him a landslide victory. I suspect they are more than people presume. Its not like the older labour party of the pre-Blair eras didn't do alright in elections and occasionally win them.

Plus he's got about four years in opposition, which is a long time of having the benefit of establishing your self as 'the other guy'.

Win an election, probably not - but I wouldn't count on him being the death knell of labour. I think he'll do alright - Probably won't win, but I also expect by then a lot of the New Labour cretins will be gone, and they'll be pulling issue voters from the liberal democrats, Greens and even from those in UKIP who are left wing.

Labour can't win an election in the UK without improving its results in Scotland - New Labour proved about as popular as the Conservative party up there.

Hoofy, that is the first time I have heard Rupert Murdoch, the Barclay Brothers, Richard Desmond and Viscount Rothermere referred as the Public.

Still, we are all in it together. Even those of us who don't actually live in the UK and are classed as non-doms for tax purposes. Your intellectual leaders have an awful lot of representation without taxation.

Not without some good ideas, puts her foot in her mouth a lot, criticism sometimes deserved, but alas disproportionate as she is a panto villain politician.
Supposed to be a very good constituency M.P. She must be doing something right to get re elected.
