Stalin wasn't a facist, he was a ultra authoritarian communist. Just as Hitler wasn't a Facist, he was a national socialist (ie right wing, but not very right wing). I can't help but think people seem to simplify politics in relation to their convenience. Left wing is a very broad spectrum as is right wing, and they relate to economic policy primarily, where as authoritarianism defines more social policy. Stalin wasn't a facist, he was a ultra authoritarian communist. Just as Hitler wasn't a Facist, he was a national socialist (ie right wing, but not very right wing).

I can't help but think people seem to simplify politics in relation to their convenience. Left wing is a very broad spectrum as is right wing, and they relate to economic policy primarily, where as authoritarianism defines more social policy.

Hence Hitler, about as right wing as the conservative party, but very heavy on the authoritarian scale.
