Just seen the Silva handball, I’m not sure we have officials making impartial decisions here. That was such a deliberate handball that I have ever seen. If it was in the box it would have been a penalty and a sending off.

Already lost it here mate. Its so obvious that VAR is a tool to help out the big clubs at the expense of others like us.WE all know that had Ward or Hughes done what Silva did it woud have been an instant red card, absoulutely no doubt. VAR is corrupt and always will favour the big sides so until its either radically changed or done away with, I'm out!!

Some of the criticism on here seems a bit OTT for me even if there is some truth behind statements.

VG's kicking was awful today, but so were the backpasses, and the oft occasion we gave the ball away dangerously, or seemed intent to play one touch passes in and around our own box for some reason... not that I don't like giving the old ticker a workout. He is a stay at home GK and that is worrying but he has, and can, put in brilliant performances for us.

The days of Wilf getting the ball after we've defended for our lives being the only possible way we'd get a goal are over however but seemingly so are those when he'd get it with even a modicum of space and you'd think 'here we go'. Seems to favour the backwards or sideways passes these days although for me now poses the greatest threat on goal.

Chelsea had the ball for long periods however we played some nice stuff ourselves and they didn't look very threatening for most of that spell. One good move that came off and Gallagher being given an acre of space for some reason was our downfall. They had a few other chances but despite the vast majority of possession I thought we looked more likely to stick it in the back of the net.

The midfield still worries me, it looks what it is for me and that is unbalanced. Eze (CAM), Olise (winger), Schlupp(??) today are not really 'CMs'. Individually they are good players who hold attributes that bring something others cannot however none really fit that 'CM' bracket. I'm still not sure why Doucoure was brought off perhaps someone can enlighten me (genuine Q.)? He looked the only one likely to win the ball today and when he went off we suffered for it. The space Gallagher was given at the end just highlighted it for me, plus our weakness in that area despite no Kante. May just be me of course but it didn't look good on paper or the pitch.

1-1 or even 1-0 would have been a great result, and with the performance, promising. A bit sharper/luck or what have you and we could've scored more. I never deny anyone a good ol' moan, b!tch or straight up rant, as I've stated more than once on here I think it's the sign of a true football fan. Bitterly, f**king awfully disappointing however I'm just offering an opinion here. We've got a far 'easier' run coming up and the table is still somewhat tight. Also, it's as old as time, common as muck and therefore usually does not warrant contemplation... but the ref was awful today, was the archetype 'big club getting every decision and smaller club none' performance. Shortly before their goal he gave a free kick on our break which just simply wasn't, I was almost perfectly in line with it, not even close.

Just on a final note of this never ending post, I have a theory that the club thought we'd be OK for the first part of the season and wanted to see how we got on before making any more moves in the transfer market and that was the reason for the lack of activity towards the end of the window. Just a theory nothing more. If true though I hope the attention is on Midfield but more so hope for better against Leeds.

It really was a woeful performance. The level of inconsistency was mind boggling. Edouard booked for first foul when barely touching the player then when someone goes clearly through the back of Ayew it's nothing.

There was an attempted one-two that Olise played on the edge of the box and he was just taken out. Nothing.

Huge shirt pull. No yellow.

Jorginho and Kovacevic allowed to get away with constantly fouling.

In the lead up to their goal their was a contentious throw in and the ref and lino just looked at each other for a few seconds then guessed.

Plus many, many others... and I've not even seen the Silva handball incident again.

Utterly infuriating... no wonder PV was p*ssed off.

Really thought a draw would have been a fair result.

Hopefully we can pick up some points in the upcoming weeks now the fixtures are a little more favourable.

It's all about money. Might not be so obvious as a brown bag full of used notes, but at a subconscious level everyone knows that big spenders keep the gravy train rolling, from high profile players to TV rights, to game franchises to album stickers. Money. At a subconscious level it clearly affects referees' decision making, that is, knowing which side the bread is buttered on.
Fans know it too, the gaudy burlesque spectacle of constant cheating under the watchful eye of a complicit referee.
Pure theatre, a spectacle, a circus, which fans seem happy enough to accept.

Anyone else see Reece James goading Zaha on social media?

What is it about Chelsea that breeds classless self-obsessed knob heads?

Have to say I watched James both games for England and thought he looked bang average.

At the game yesterday and thought it was a red card then.
Just watched the game on TV this morning .
I can only think it was not given as a red card is because the ref and VAR new of Ayew goal scoring record

That was a tough one to take.

A brave team selection by PV which was good to see. Far better than the safety first team he played in the semi final against Chelsea.

However - and possibly as a result of that and the absence of Andersen, we made far too many unforced errors. As others have said, some of the passes back to VG made his life difficult.

The referee had a shocker. Booking Edouard thanks to the theatrics from Forfana, would have been acceptable had he then booked Chelsea players for similar offences - which of course he didn't. As for the Thiago incident, in my view that was cheating, plain and simple. It wasn't one of those handballs where the ball is blasted at a defender that can't get his arm out of the way, it was a deliberate act of preventing Ayew from going in on goal. It deserved a red card - or 2 yellows as Steve Parish argued.

You could have written the script for Gallaghers winner. A great strike, no blame attached for anyone on our side in my view.

We move onto a phase of games in which we should be picking up points. Let's hope we do just that.

He wasn't average - he was nowhere near good enough. Would pick Alexander-Arnold who can't defend and has the awareness of an amoeba, he's that poor.

I stopped watching for maybe a season or two before - early nineties - when United could do whatever they liked, and matches lasted as long as they needed to for them. It was ridiculous. Now every rich club is United lite. The biggest blots on our game are separate Premier League Officials, not under the FA, and transfer fees, agents and contracts/ wages. PGMOL needs to be abolished - every year officiating gets worse - even when that seems impossible. Government should step in for transfers/wages as it's clear the corrupt game itself will do nothing.
It's like WWE wrestling sometimes it's that comical. Think of the Klopp fist pumps to the crowd when they beat us with crap officiating, that just about encapsulates everything wrong with the game currently. It's also not beautiful, it's dog ugly to be fair.
Giving young lads 100k plus a week is farcical and needs to be debated properly, not just complained about in private. Really, they should take a percentage of the wages, with the rest to come in retirement - it's not exactly f***ing rocket science to work that out.

I’m agreeing with a lot being said but ……. But why did Hughes come on ?
He was one of three players not watching loose Chelsea players

Watch the replay where Hughes is telling a defender to go back to an attacker
Then he points to another player Conor telling someone to pick him up -

That’s so 2 nd division- he should have closed down the attack but no he was lingering
& allowed Conor to shoot no pressure & then turned away

Come on Pat poor sun right there

Dont blame you there Gary, I can only put it down to blatent corruption or Bias against Palace in favor of the so called bigger clubs. I cant even put it down to bad officails as only a blind man would have missed that it was a sending off . What do we have to do to get a fair game in this league ?? week in and week out every game we seem to have big decisions going against us . To me it looks like there is an agenda to get Palace relegated and it must be very dishearting for the player that work their bollix off .

Yet again we concede in the 90th minute plus. Something that has become a trademark under Vieria.

End of the day we have players like Ayew and Ward in our starting line up so it's gonna be a long season.

After a fantastic last season this season just doesn't feel right to me.

Ayew put a stunning cross in for the goal. Give over.
