Well he sacked him after not backing him financially this season. However, if as is starting to be reported, he was too soft on the players, not such a bad decision. With so few games left, who else is available, other than the rumoured favourite, who could keep us up ??

To those who are criticising the decision to sack Vieira, what would be their justification for keeping him?
This is not to say he was given the best cards to play with the clear gaps in the squad and boardroom problems.
But leaving that aside we are where we are and Vieira showed no signs of turning things around.
There are mutterings about winnable games coming up but we haven’t beaten Everton, Forest, Fulham, Southampton or Villa in recent months under Vieira.
It’s almost a case of second marriages( hope triumphing over experience ) as the likelihood is that Vieira would have continued on the same pathway and we would have experienced similar poor results while hoping for a change despite doing the same things.
We are now supposedly looking at remarrying an ex in Hodgson and let’s hope it’s a happy ending.

I do want to ask one obvious question. If Vieira was sacked partly for such poor coaching and staff, then how have we improved coaching by not bringing any new staff in? It's like no one doing the job is better than what we had. We could have done without coaches all these years had we known that. We would have saved maybe enough to paint the gates again.

Fair comments but I think Carrick has something about him.

Would be a risk agreed

Agree with you about Carrick. However, the risk at this club is now Parish, and as long as he's in charge the other risks don't matter much. We don't need to worry about a manager taking us down. The board's doing that all on their own.

Let's see what happens in the summer. No club wilfully self destructs, even Palace

That of course may be too late to save our EPL status, all we can do is hope not. I do really think it is time for this club to move on from SP/DF if we are to progress. Whilst accepting SP saved the club in 2010 and I thank him for that, I just do not believe he has the financial clout or the expertise to run a mid table EPL Club in the modern era and DF is hopeless as DOF as he seems to have no idea about succession planning or any credible scouting network
in place that these days has to cover the whole world. Brighton seem to have got it right with a Chairman who is happy to let the professionals run the club, with him keeping an eye in the background.
