this rumour is somehow still rumbling along then.

The player himself has said he would be open to a move to work with his old boss . It's more than just a rumour.

It is mostly just the skeptic in me but I cannot see how this deal will happen. The guy is a regular starter for france. He could play in any league in top 6 teams. He would improve Liverpool Spurs United Dortmund Inter Napoli Fiorentina to name a few and i reckon would start regularly at all those sides.

Unless he loves fish and chips and a pint of Speckled Hen or has a very questionable relationship with Pards i don't see how this happens. Just seems talk to make other clubs realise he is available.

Hope to be proved wrong but..... ain't happening.

Can't disagree with most of that , but it is more than a rumour we are clearly in for him , whether we get him " over the Line " remains to be seen, but adding him and remy or someone of that class , would be bloody amazing , and we could seriously threaten the top 10 again or even top 8.

Just a thought.
Just supposing that Yohan actually loves playing football more than he enjoys buying fast cars and getting rat-arsed.

If this is the case, here are 6 reasons why he would seriously consider comming to the Palace.
1. He doesn't need great wads of moolah (let's be honest NO footballer needs great wads of moolah 'cos most of them just fritter it away. He's made enough to live a more-than-comfortable life already.
2. He knows and likes Pards and the way he works.
3. Current Palace players have a great reputation for hard work and giving everything for the team. There's no great-I-am's.
4. It goes without saying that Palace fans are the best there are.
5. Baring injury, he would be virtually guaranteed a starting place in every game.
6. If we can get a couple of other top signings and if luck runs with us he could (just possibly) be playing for a top-5 team in the best league in the world. Take Arse, Chel, ManC and ManU out and the rest is anybodies game.

1. Because footballers don't NEED wads of cash doesn't mean they don't WANT wads of cash. Cabaye is extremely likely to go to the club that will offer the most money.

6. Are you not getting a teeensy bit ahead of yourself? Top 5? You don't even have to be part of the "take it to the next level" brigade to think that's a bit far-fetched.

...we must expand...get more pupils...so that the knowledge will spread...

We are definitely in for him. Just think we are being strung along by Cabaye and his agent waiting for bigger club to come along which I 100% think will happen. West Ham in the same boat for me too. He is much better than them.

1. True, but isn't that a bit of a stereotype? I'm saying 'what if'

2. Maybe, maybe not. Lot's of 'the mighty' have fallen in the last year. The Pool have had an up&down season, Everton and Newcastle almost got relegated. Outside the top 4 were talking about teams like Swansea, Spurs, Stoke, Spurs and Southampton. I did say 'just possibly'. I know it's far fetched but stranger things have happened. Yes ... honestly ... they have ;-)

7. As long as you're not English (which he isn't), once playing for Palace you have a very good chance of playing for your country.

8. He could get a nice house in Beckenham and dine in La Rascasse which serves many French delights.

Or you could live in a scouse s*** hole or Newcastle one.

With any part of the UK excluding maybe Chelsea. ...you can make the local area sound s***.

Not Beckenham you can't...it's more desirable that Chelsea.

Agree with the vast majority of this. Only point 1 is "out there"...the cash footballers accumulate has to last a professional lifetime so there is no such thing as "too much." Can't blame them for maximising their earnings in a ten year career.

As for the rest, agree. Cabaye would be the sort of marquee signing that would attract other top players, too, and really be a statement of intent. Whether it's Cabaye or Remy or someone else, the first "big player" to arrive may well knock down a line of dominoes and make Palace an "acceptable" destination.

Sydenham by birth. Selhurst by the Grace of God.

Cabaye wants to play for a London club.

In our favour - he would be our best player immediately and would start every game, you would imagine.

Also relationship with Pards.

Outside of that, you would have thought the other London club's have advantages over us.

But West Ham are total s***e so I don't see why he would want to go there.
