I guess my disappointment was really about the situation we find ourselves in rather than the appointment of Roy. Now it has sunk in I guess it is the most sensible thing to do. His main task will be to get the players who were PV lovers onside and to make it clear to all of them that their futures are riding on their ability to get us out of this situation. Roy and the coaching team have the know how it is going to be up to the players to show their determination. We are no worse off than any of the other 9 teams involved and are in the position of being able to play them all and knock them back we have all the advantages to survive. If the PV group were not performing and some of the players not on side with their coaching then we should get a good lift from the new team coming in. We will survive COYP

Guaita
Ward Andersen Guehi Mtchell
Ayew Doucoure Luka Schlupp
Zaha Mateta

There won't be two up front. This is Roy. Defend first, possibly score sometime

Vieira had to go but will have a lot of sympathisers within the game.

Most of the names put about on here aren't touching us with a sh1tty stick Benitez, Mourinho, Bielsa and think I've seen Conte mentioned ? Seriously

Perhaps Dean Smith may have been an alternative.

When Roy had Sakho at his best we played some great football out from the back and it will be interesting to see how he makes use of Guehi and Andersen.

The only player we've got who has consistently scored is Zaha so maybe we'll see him in a front two.

Looks like Fawlty Towers of the Prem - such an embarrassment. It's a funny business, football that is, when the person in charge of a very public enterprise doesn't have the bollocks to do a press conference alongside the incoming stooge, and hides in his Soho digs instead.

The fans deserve an explanation, some contrition, some honesty and perhaps a vision for the future. That could have been done with showing some real respect for PV and his past contribution and giving Roy the lift he needs with the fans. That way the club might get the fanbase truly back on side for the remainder of the season.

Right now, the way this saga has been handled, hiding behind bland written announcements, just goes to prove how much PV has lost touch with the soul of the club. How stupid can you be with social posts like "arrive in style" - do they think the fans are morons?

If we play negative ROY-ball and loose to Leicester, I can't imagine how toxic it will get and the team will suffer from the wrath that will ensue. Seems Parish shoots himself in the foot at every turn these days and he has definitely lost the plot.

I was going to say you'll probably have to wait for dinosaurs to rule the earth again to get that, but as we now have one in the dugout I probably need to find another metaphor.

Sydenham by birth. Selhurst by the Grace of God.

The one thing I would say for Roy and Ray is that the fitness levels and work ethic will go up.

Ha ha, I was thinking that Roy's last two seasons ended with 14th place finishes, and there was worried talk during that period that we were flirting with relegation. Although PV's fitness regime leaves a lot to be desired, I can't recall Hodgson's side looking much fitter, and as it stands this side under PV is in 12th place after a difficult run of games.
Watford's recruitment of Roy went well didn't it? I wondering how many of the players are exclaiming with joy, "Yay, Roy's back, now we really mean business! No more half time doughnuts, a slice of orange for me please Roy and Ray!"
Other than that, I'm truly trying to fathom Roy's motivation for taking this post. He's 75, has he passed a fitness test himself? It's a very stressful business.

Here is a reminder of Roy Hodgson's performance in his last Premier League job at Watford last season.
He took over with 18 games to go in 19th position and two points from safety.
Watford ended the season still in 19th, but fifteen points from safety.
During that 18-game run Watford won 2; lost 13 and drew 3.
They scored 11 goals and conceded 36 during that run.
I think Parish is expecting a better return during CPFC's run-in.

it's clear we have no long term plan and no succession planning. Given the revolving door of managers at the club I find it rather baffling that we never have a plan B, or thought to put a plan B in place.

Why do you think he took it on? Unfinished business? Or because he's an honourable man an he feels it's his duty? Or maybe because he can't stay away and the lure of the easy £££ is just too much to resist?
I wonder if PV had a hint of communications between the club and Roy going on behind his back, all the while with the club, albeit not playing well and with a tough set of fixtures, in 12th and 6 points clear of the drop zone?
There's something not right about all this, and it is said the fish rots from the head down.

I'd love to know the answer to this. He obviously wont need the money.

As a favour to Parish, do they have a good relationship?

Ego? Not wanting to finish his career on a relegation?

That is down to Vieira and Robert’s, it been obvious the players aren’t fit enough to last the game. Stats shown on Sky Sport show we are bottom of distance covered each game, averaging 101.8m the 19th place is 105.4m then a bunch fairly similar above.
This was Man Utd’s problem, new manager came in, kicked out lazy players got them working harder and results followed. Vieira was too soft on his favourites, who did him no favours, but getting him the sack.

There are lots of different views on here but sadly PV had to go.
15 games and one win in the PL.
He genuinely looked lost and clueless towards the end - I hope he is okay to be honest.
Whatever people think of Roy and Ray I think we will at least have a plan now and I think that we have the players to execute the plan.
Their single job is to keep us up and we have more chance this season that Watford had last season.
The situation with PV is a shame but our survival is more important.
We start again next season - hopefully in the PL!
