a totally unconvincing victory, won by 2 players.
Re David Ozoh. First, he needs to wear shin pads.
Also, to me, he has picked up a bad habit from Reidwald of running around in circles.

I know he is only 18 and don’t want to knock the lad but I am yet to be convinced by Ozoh. It could be a lot of nerves but if he far from comfortable when on the ball.

Hodgson is obsessed with finding a role for Schlupp. Perhaps he feels that Jeff will add a bit of weight to a slim midfield.
Schlupp's day has come and gone, he really offers nothing. It's no coincidence that when he came on and we tried to protect the lead that they took the initiative.

First of all, a win is a win is a win. Great to get 3 points and a step closer to safety.
A new right back secured and looking likely a new midfielder too that many have suggested is very promising.

My thoughts are that much more is going on in the background than any of us know. My guess is that SP very much plans to keep Roy for the rest of this season no matter how disjointed our performances are so long as we don’t get really sucked into a relegation battle.

If you take a look at our remaining fixtures there are no batches of games where we have a nightmare run against the big boys where we would not expect to win or have to pull a rabbit out of the hat. There are enough games against those around us and below us that I really do think we will be safe especially if we can get Eze and Olise on the field together for a fair few of them.

I think no matter how terrible the way we have been set up this year (more often than not) has been that is what we are going to get. Roy is not going to play the fresh options. If Ward is fit it will not surprise me in the slightest if the new boy is sitting on the bench. Franca could be banging them in at training and looking like Messi and he has no chance of starting this season. We just have to except that for this season.

We will get the points we need simply because the run of fixtures and the couple of magic players we have will very likely be enough to get us over the line.

My own opinion Is I still think that Roy should go. He has done an amazing job in his time but he looks lost. The players look confused. But it’s not going to happen.

Yesterday after the quick goal and especially in the first half it was like the boys on the pitch took things into there own hands and went for it. It was a lot like the way we played after Vierra left last year. 2nd half yesterday it was as if Roy had a chance to remind them of there duties at half time and his plan and there was a drop in intensity. In the end we were lucky they hit the crossbar and we got the win.

The only thing I really hope is that we get Sam Johnson back between the sticks. Henderson for me worries me and there are going to be plenty of times that this could be the difference.

Strap in people it’s going to be an up and down few months.

Agreed. He is a big unit but like Jairo I am not sure he is very mobile. I don't wish to criticise a young player but so far he had not impressed without doing anything wrong.

I think tonight's appearance was fine he came on to protect the lead and put himself about. I think for the rest of the season Roy will use him in that role but no way is he ready to hold down a place in the team.

Here's hoping he improves.

Bet your happier, when we lose. We won, Olise was worth anyones entrance fee alone.

You know what Painter I think I have been, there is no denying Olise is something else he is most probably a better player than Wilf was but without the attitude.

But if you were there last night, and I’m sure you were that was not an easy watch and we were clueless!

Easy for people to moan that we are nothing without Eze and Olise - thats kind of the whole point of having them - 2 match winners that a lot of other clubs down the bottom dont have.
Also both games theyve played at home together this season weve scored 3 goals in both games.

People have short memories, we did this every season with Wilf in the side, atleast now we have 2.
Subs were the obvious subs to make when you are 3-2 up in a must win I am afraid, as much as I would like to see franca play it just wasnt realistic last night. The game plan was clearly to hang on after the eze and olise went off and I am totally okay with that considering we arent actually any good without them
3 points was more important than the performance tonight. Saturday however will be a completely different ball game.

With regard to the gripe that you mentioned about the space afforded to opposition wide players, this is something I’ve long been aware of and concerned by.
Hodgson has previously said that he’s less concerned about when the ball is out wide with his reasoning being that if the full backs don’t block the cross the central defenders will deal with them in the penalty area.
Hodgson is more concerned with being compact in and around our penalty area, blocking spaces and defending that area in numbers.
This means that our full backs are sometimes left exposed defending 2 on 1 and that crosses aren’t always stopped.
It’s a dangerous game as there are many adept crossers of the ball in the Premier League and our central defenders and goalkeepers are not the most commanding or dominant of players.
We have not defended well by and large this season and the absence of Doucoure shielding in front of the penalty area has left a massive gap we’ve shown no sign of being able to fill.

The positives are that we won the game, got a valuable 3 points and that Olise and Eze played like mem possessed when they were on the field.
I also that that Mateta and Ayew were excellent as well.
We looked like we had a plan with the two of them on the pitch but no plan when they went off.
Which brings me to the negatives -
We allowed Sheffield United to score two goals and in the last 20 mins or so allowed them to look like a top side.
We had no plan in place once Eze and Olise went off.
Franca could have come on and allowed us to keep up the pressure but Roy decided to go negative and it nearly backfired.
Any team would miss not having Eze and Olise on the field but we are clueless without them.
Roy and Ray should be on top of that stuff and yet it appeared they just stood and watched with no coaching from the sidelines.
If we stay up - which if we keep those two fit and the additions to the squad then we should then it will be despite Roy and not because of him - he can't leave too soon for me.
One last gripe - why do our (and maybe other teams) full backs give the wide players so much space?
Week after week the ball gets sprayed out wide and there is no one within 20 yards or so?
Both goals last night came from just that scenario - full backs getting sucked in to the middle.
A strange one which I will never understand.
Glad we won and just hope that Batman and Robin are fit to face the weed on Saturday - love it that Luton thrashed them (even though it doesn't help us) but old habits die hard!

Sick to death of the negative Roy comments. That is it!
Play him, don't play him, take him off, don't take him off, got to go, negative, positive, give it a rest for F*** Sake.

They're probably 15 and 40 million pound players, respectively. Grealish has regressed since he left Villa. Olise is far superior to either of them

Didn’t work v Newcastle where Tripper destroyed us.
Isolated examples either way don’t prove a point.
We do leave spaces out wide , preferring to concentrate on defending the penalty area
There is of course a counter argument that if we concentrated on defending wide areas we could leave gaps in the middle.
Both methods have risks, but we have looked vulnerable to crosses this season and although Guehi and Anderson are excellent players it could be argued they are not as good as defending the box as e.g Dann, Cahill, Delaney, Tompkins.
