The other big difference is that a football stand is easy to evacuate as worst case we could all run on to the pitch. That's not to say we shouldn't test it, but it's not quite the same thing.

With respect, the stand at Bradford didn't evacuate fast enough and 56 died. Let's hope all the necessary checks are being done, or have already been done with any remedial work completed before the season starts.

You beat me to it. Not an issue on which to be complacent. Bradford was simply appalling.

Didn't realise that, ok fair point.

Thanks but this doesn't really answer the question. Kerms described the Grenfell cladding as "cheap aluminium stuff". Your link to the Independent merely shows that a batch of it cost less than a batch of some alternative. I'm just trying to understand what was meant by the adjective "cheap" in this example. A top of the range Mercedes costs a lot less than a top of the range Ferrari, but I wouldn't describe a Mercedes as "cheap".

Palace since 19 August 1972. Palace 1 (Tony Taylor) Liverpool 1 (Emlyn Hughes)

It was mentioned on a tv programme this week (the Pledge) that there is a Premier League club that has a stand with this flammable cladding on it. Hope it's not us... or if it is then it's sorted PDQ.

I’m surprised they decided to put cladding on only one stand at Selhurst Park. With it being Palace’s home ground, I had a feeling they would……clad all over!

I’ll get my coat…

As the old stand is a timber structure which has since been cladded, will this affect Selhurst Park?

Would depend if it was the safe zinc based cladding or the cheap aluminium stuff used at Grenfall. Guessing it's the former as there's been no news of any checks. I know the club love money these days but I don't believe they would be so stupid as have not checked it was fireproof.

Kermit, I didn't know wood was made out of zinc or aluminium

Oh Kermy that's just classic.

I know I'm being an arse but....I won't deny that gave me a tickle....Bless you.

We all do it from time to time.

Maybe you're right, I probably should've checked for the offside flag on that one but couldn't resist it!

No offence or insensitivity was intended.

Would it help, and make you less confused, if I edited it with the comparative instead?

Er..ok..bless you too. Though I don't quite get what you two are on about. The OP is obviously talking about fire safety re: cladding on top of wood. So was I.
