Ok, Philly and Cincy aren't exactly the premier locations in the U.S., but I have never heard anyone refer to Vancouver as a sh!thole. My wife was angry at me for even considering going to Vancouver without her. Fair enough. Never been to vancouver. But why go to north america without going to southern california?

Why do we always visit sh&tholes in the U.S.? Philadelphia? Cincinnati? Vancouver, Canada? What about California? What a ridiculous, uneducated comment.

What a ridiculous, uneducated comment. Ok mr. Vancouver, don't get so excited. I conceded that i'd never been to vancouver. However, i have lived in california, and I've been to both Cincinnati and Philadelphia. Philadelphia is two things: 1. Full of American history, although less than D.C., depending on where you go, and 2. a slum, depending on where you go. Neither of which would be that interesting to an English tourist. Cincinnati is plainly and simply god awful. I assure you that my original comment was not poorly informed. I was also dismayed that Palace were not coming to southern california because that is where i spend a lot of my time.

Hardly 'Mr Vancouver' and not over excited at all.. just amazes me how people are quick to judge with no basic knowledge, still, as you were.

No, I was a bit hasty in getting my tickets and got them in block 240. I got my kids a flag each from the cup final, so they'll be waving them from amongst the Whitecaps fans.
Glad you'll be taking your kids to see the Palace for the first time!

This is all so silly. Palace had to find opponents to play who were willing to play them. As for California, who will play Palace. Not the Galaxy or the Earthquakes or whatever Chivas USA has become. As for their choices, Philadelphia is centrally located between new York and Washington, plus is close enough so fans from the old CPFC Baltimore can easily make that match. Cincinnati may be a second tier club but the city is located smack dab in the middle of the Ohio River Valley and opens up a new fan base for Palace. Your denigration of Vancouver, where the Whitecaps have been and institution since the NASL days, is particularly egregious, especially since Palace legend Steve Kember played there in the late 1970s. Finally, I've lived in Monterey and San Diego, CA. In Monterey, i went through the Coalinga earthquake in 1983 and the Loma Prieta (World Series) quake of 1989. It was in San Diego that i discovered that my then wife was cheating with half the Navy and Marines in the area. So, pardon me if I don't get warm and fuzzy over the state. As far as I'm concerned, it's just another American state and I've been to 49 of them. The only one I've missed is Montana.
