I need 50% minimum after a loss like that

I think because of the rule changes we'll struggle to survive. When it used to be 3 points for a win, with a fit squad I'd give us a chance because we're only 5 points from safety.

Now that isn't the case I'm going to be like a lot of other palace 'fans' and just write the season off. I'll be there next season on the championship though, hope they are too.

If only those 3 points for a win days were back. We'd only be two wins from safety and everyone would be ready for the fight. Sad times.

So how many points for a win is it now then?

It is highly unlikely we will get anything from the Chelsea game and after that dastardly Southampton defeat I, and I suspect very many others, thought we would go 8 games without a single point on the board.

Supporters are accepting that a defeat against Chelsea is inevitable - if we go down convincingly at Newcastle I suspect that many who perhaps are giving us some hope of survival will reset their opinions on our survival chances.

What about if we beat Newcastle?
Last time we played there Townsend scored a free kick from 35 yards. A deflection off his boll*cks would do now.

Most likely he will do the same thing this time and we go down 1 nil

Losing Benteke for such a long stretch is probably the end for us. I know he gets a lot of abuse here, and he hasn't scored, but he's all we have up front. If we had Wilf and Benteke, I'd think we could steal enough points to maybe stay up. Without him, I don't see who is going to score any goals.

Plus, look at our goal differential. 0 - 17. No other team is anywhere close to that bad. We're twice as bad as 19 other clubs.

0 points, 0 goals, 17 goals conceded, and our only 2 decent offensive players have serious injuries that may ruin both of their seasons.

Can we do it? Maybe. Is it likely? Not really, no.

No shame in it. We're not a rich club, and we've had 5 years in the top league.

The only hope we have is the club is desperate to stay up and Parish blows a crazy amount of money at the transfer window, AND, the players he buys play way over their heads. Unfortunately, by January, we could be out of it already.

It's depressing, but I still plan to try to enjoy this year in the Premiership. Support the club. Hope for the best.

We can do it, but need what usually is left for good players - luck! With that comes confidence, but after 8 games (after Chelsea) and about minus 20 in goals, it's a long way to go.
Manager RH needs to admit that Ward (1st goal at OT exposed all his weaknesses), Puncheon the armwaiver and Schlupp who was paralyzed 1st half, is NOT 1st team material.
Our central defenders seems sick/injuryprone - Tomkins/Dann and Sakho took a knock end of Utd-game, we need a bit of stability here.
Ladapo on top will do for me compared to Benteke this season. Please don't come up with talk of no service etc, you have to demand more from a 30 mill. striker than he shows - service and no service.
With a midfield of Luka, Cabaye, RLC and maybe Riedewald (seem a nippy clever player), Townsend, Zaha and Ladapo on top - we ARE good enough to avoid the big R.
We ought to get the goal in opposition net and with goals, our confidence and attitude will change to positive. We're the Eagles after all, this is an ideal situation for us - fight back when everybody else has written us off.

I think, or I should say hope, Wilf coming back will be a massive lift for us. Might sound stupid but it's probably not worth risking him against Chelsea if there's even the slightest doubt about his fitness.

We can stay up and we will imo but sentimental Parish has a lot to answer for.

Very hard to avoid relegation at the present.
Goal difference will be crucial because this will be the equivalent of a minus point.
Players need a bigger incentive, increase all the players contracts by say 50% this will ensure more effort from them.
How can you expect underpaid players to perform Mr Steve,
I wouldn't play football for 100,000 pounds per week so we shouldn't expect our heroes to play for peanuts
We are absolutely fcekud

Losing Benteke is only an issue as the club spent all its resources and time trying to sign yet another centre back to appease the fans. The club were effectively relegated when they failed to sign a forward in the transfer window.
