I think the Gender pay Gap is nonsense. There was pay discrimination back in the day and that was wrong. However when people complain today it is not like for like. So school cleaners say they should be paid the same as dustmen, shelf stackers the same as warehouse workers. If I took a year off work and then complained that colleagues were being paid more and or got promoted ahead of me, well what do you expect? The business has to continue and opportunities often arise unexpectedly. If you are not available for work for whatever reason you will miss out, your colleague will have a year's more experience than you so why should they be penalised? This happened to me with my Gender Equal Pay boss and I was livid. A story I will tell if anyone is interested. One more point

I think the Gender pay Gap is nonsense.

Yes, there is certainly a wide range of opinion on the so called left as there is on the right.
I'm not necessarily against all leftist thinking, but I am against stupidity.

How do you square the circle. I am sympathetic that women should not be penalised for having a baby but then why should the rest of the workforce be penalised because somebody not working is paid or promoted the same as them.

Most women are pragmatic and get that they will fall behind. Most employers are pragmatic and if they have a high value employee will certainly look to reward that person once they are back at work.

Even in so called liberal economies the pay gap exists.

Describing half of his supporters as "...racist, sexist, homophobic, xenophobic, Islamophobic" was a huge boost for him because although some may be like that there are more who aren't and consequently resented being described as such. The consolation in all this is that those who go out of their way to deprecate and ridicule others for daring to have a different opinion will find the same thing happening to them in years to come.

Already happening. A Professor has been targetted by Trans People who have been trying to get her cancelled and sacked because she is a TERF. She has complained about bullying.

My sympathy dissolved when I read that when she was much younger she and her feminist group had targetted a male professor for his antiquated views.

It seems that the bully tactics she and her feminist pals had used on him decades earlier are now being used on herself.
